Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 10th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Hola! again, didn't think I would get on here today, but due to freak weather conditions on the French/Spanish border had to pick our route carefully, luckily our prefered one is he best. See here and here and here and read this about how the French handle a stranded train! I awoke early and got up to check on here and do the food, left DH to have some extra sleep as he does most of the driving, and I can have a nap while we travel if necessary.

We had a nice day yesterday after a cloudy start, got 3 loads of washing dry on the line, and sat outside to have lunch and even a short read. Had our cheapie Chinese last night, and all the sandwiches are done now, need to wake DH up in half an hour. Wi-Fi being OK at the hotel tonight, will try to get back.

((Hugs)) to all - DG

    Good morning,
Donny-gal - hope you manage to get back to UK ok. I just looked at the links - what funny weather we are having!

Im up because my youngest son is poorly. I have been up with him a while and hopefully the pain in his head is subsiding as I have dosed him up. He has the virus that has gone through our family so i dont think he will be in school today. I was awake anyway as I have a lot on my mind. My DS1 (19) has decided to drop out of college and has no plans for the future. He will find it hard to get a job and it all seems to be very rushed. I am hoping he will come to his senses and return today

I had a hospital appointment yesterday and was quite disappointed with the doctor. Im going all out to find the best doctor who deals with my conditions and then Im going to get a referral to him/her - wherever they are in the country, maybe the world!!!!! Im that sick of being fobbed off and given stronger and stronger med that have horrid side effects.

Sorry - rant over:o I need to get some OS done today. I have washing to organise. My cleaner is coming tomorrow so that will help.

Hugs to those who need one x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning folks... cool weather! This has certainly been the coldest winter i can remember, must be global warming... :rotfl:
Back to work today mixed with about 5 hours of school governor meetings, so out at 9 home at 10pm tonight :( Hope they lay of plenty of sandwiches.

Managed to get through some more jobs yesterday, including the boat work, so getting there slowly...

Made a great pie last night with freezer food. Found a bag of chopped beef, so cooked is slowly in a pan with a can of Teleys bitter, worcester sauce, pepper and garlic, threw in some mushrooms and Oxo and after an hour shoved a pie crust on it. Wow, it was tasty..... Made a mince beef and onion pie too... So we have left over pie and the rubbish in the freezer is getting eaten.... Might be able to buy new stuff this weekend.

No frost this morning... Well, folks have a good day...

    Hi everyone

Donny-Gal - good luck with the trip. I must say, having lived here in France for a year, that report about the train doesn't surprise me! The French spend a lot of time wandering around like headless chickens - they couldn't cope here when the local supermarket was having the carpark revamped, so a stranded train would really challenge them! With food being really important to them, at least they have made provision for that! Those poor people on the train, though - it must be awful for them. We knew the snow was bad there because my BIL lives not far from Montpelier. I hope you arrive safely.

It's freezing cold here but, luckily, we don't have snow - I think it's too cold! As N9eav says - it must be global warming!

Yesterday was spent shifting furniture around so that DH can get on with plastering the rest of the hall - I know it will be worth it but it's so disruptive.

Molly - my sister spent time in hospital last year because her doctor wouldn't listen to her and just kept pumping her full of different drugs for different reasons, without checking about how they reacted with each other. She is on just one drug now and starting to feel a lot better but I am so angry at how she was treated. It was a locum GP who realised what was going on, and got her into hospital, so a change of GP is more than overdue for you, by the sound of it. Stick to your guns and look for a different one. Could you perhaps book with a different doctor at the same practice?

Well, dinner tonight is undecided because I forgot to get the meat out of the freezer - I'll go and have a rummage in there now.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Morning peeps

cold this morning but no frost :jseems a good bit warmer than yesterday so we`re getting there "come on spring":D

Last night i checked my tomato seeds and all but one had germinated so i potted them up and added them to my colletion of tiny pots in the spare room. I`m hoping for masses of plants ready to go in the greenhouse once the weather is warmer.

Molly - Hope that you find a decent doctor and that everything at home sorts itself out. You seem to be put through the wringer at regular intervals ((((HUGS))))

N9eav - I love boozy pies, they are always so tasty. One of my favourites is braising steak with onions, mushrooms and guinness

Tea tonight will be pie but not hm, i bought some whoopsied ones last year and they are a mixed bag so 4 different ones in there. We shall be having those today and tomorrow, they are defrosting in the fridge and i`ve already cooked the jacket spuds and carrots to reheat later as we shall be eating at different times again for the next two days. I shall rummage around in the freezer for some greens later when i get home.

    Have a good day peeps.

    Good morning everyone :)

Not as cold here and no frost! The forecast is for sun so I'll peg the washing out :T

I don't start until 11am today but am carrying on with my usual routine as I want to go to the supermarket and get the shopping done first. I cleaned the kitchen last night with DS2 & DS3's help - they did the tops of cupboards and the fridge freezer that I struggle to reach so it's looking good this morning.

Aldi bratwurst sausage sliced and cooked with a couple of tins of tomatoes, garlic, some peppers and onions then added to cooked pasta twirls for tea. It's another favourite and very tasty & filling. I'll make the sausage & pasta sauce base before I go and reheat it later to save time.

Have a lovely day everyone & hugs for those who need them xxx

    Morning all,

Cold here again but no frost :T, off to work today, so a quick tidy round this morning, dw will be put on before I go. Had my sainsbugs delivery last night, its nice to have full cupboards and a fridge again :o

I ordered some voile roller blinds for the two windows at the top and bottom of the stairs yesterday, I am not keen on nets but these seem much less fussy, I feel a bit self concious walking up the landing in my dressing down, so will be pleased to get them up.

Dinner tonight will be jacket potato and something, I think there might be 2 chicken kievs lurking in the freezer, I might do them to use them up.

Bins and recycling to go out today, my kitchen is looking so much better, I just have the rest of the woodwork to do next week then thats another room done :T

Donny, take care getting back xx

Molly, hugs to you, hope you get some answers soon xx

Bargiainbird, well done to dd :T:T

My dd thought she might have done quite well in the drama exam, but she came home shattered, it was an all day thing, the teacher warned them they would all be tired.

Ok, have good days all xx
