  • Would the Tory's maintain the current disgusting level of taxation on fuel that has taken place under the Labour party.
As a government if they are serious about cleaner fuel woul they consider a scheme to have more cars converted to run on autogas ?

  • What about single people that seem to be passed by everytime. I am 40+ and single. It seems that if you are married you can claim for many things. I am not single by choice and claim my council tax benefit but i feel i am blacklisted for anything else. WHY?
  • As Pensioners have been hit so hard by reduced savings interest rates - Will the Conservatives abolish the assumption that they get £1 interest for every £500 saved so more can apply for help through the Pension Credit scheme ?
  • I would like you to ask George Osborne if he will eliminate "social engineering" taxes and taxes that cost as much if not more to collect than the receipts. For example; there's a whole industry built up around road tax invluding all the Little Hitlers and threats. Put it on petrol. Ecomomical and green cars immediately benefit. Also : will he please get rid of the stupid and irrelevant Government Advertising which should, anyway, be put out via the "Public Service Broadcaster" that we all subscribe to.
  • Ask him what measures he is proposing to adopt in order to stimulate green investment and promote the switch to a low carbon economy.
  • This is a very personal question to me but does affect about 130,000 people in the UK.

Some time ago the Labour Government agreed on a pay package for police officers in England and Wales, they are now planning on turning their backs on this deal. What will a Conservative Government do with regard to Police pay, and public sector pay in general? Notwithstanding the fact that all MP's are now 'entitled' to a 1.5% pay increase. (Please don't use the defence of 'Oh, I'm not taking it as I'm in the Shadow Cabinet.' If it weren't public knowledge we all know you grab it with both hands!

Please also bear in mind, no matter what your opinion of the police is we do quite often have to risk our own lives, especially in London so opinions such as those broadcast by Jack Straw a few months ago really does not curry favour.
  • could you please ask him if he would abolish prescription costs for people with asthma and similar conditions. It is a life threatening condition and without medication most asthmatics could die and yet we still have to pay for prescription charges, which can add up as some of us are on 2/3 inhalers or tablets and need them at least every month. Gorden Brown did promise to look into this and agreed to review and abolish it but that appears to have been an empty promise.

How about where these cuts are going to fall? One thing that will greatly effect my vote is a party coming out with cut plans. There going to come, all party's have said so. But I would be more inclined to vote with a party that names at least some cuts. (I watched him on Andrew Marr and he was vague and avoided naming actual cuts.)

Also what are his plans for the police? Does he want to join the Lib Dems in saying they will recruit more to deal with this "Broken Britain" the tory's keep speaking of?

  • Ask him why Governments ask people to plan for their retirement then after they do if his governemnt get elected the first thing he is going to do is increase the retirement age to 66. Please tell him that it takes years of planning ones retirement and he will be giving lest than 10 years notice to people that they cannot get their pension until after another year.

Why do the disabled who have cars, motability or otherwise, and unable to use public transport have to pay the tax on petrol. It is a necessity, not a choice to have a car. In all other purchases which are to help the person have an independent life the tax can be claimed back.

But with the petrol, full tax is paid. Since most disabled are scraping by on Income Support, the fuel tax is extortionate. Its a case of finding some money to go in the car so shopping can be done, or attending health appointments. And yes I know that it is possible to claim the money back for fares. But if you don't have the money to put fuel in the car you can't even get to the appointment. And using a bus is not an option as it is impossible to get on a bus. Buses in Cornwall are not accessible, and I'm sure that around the country there are many areas that do not have accessible buses.
