Any Single MFWs?

Single as well - 33, no kids. Have no mortgage free diary and currently not overpaying which I should be given the mortgage rates. Thankfully though my mortgage is only £27k(ish) with just over 10yrs to run. Gonna try and reduce the term in April when my current deal runs out.0

You will not get a mortgage in April and certainly no 'deals' -

Hiya, I am kind of a single MFW. I have been on the MF quest since 2006, when I moved into my current property. Mortgage started at 30K (had a previous property and marriage etc before so had a fair bit of equity to put down and only have a teeny house!) Have managed to reduce it to 17K so far and another 2K to come off this month by lots of hard saving and frugal living and also cashing in my endowment policy. BF been living with me for the last year but he doesn't have any input into the mortgage so am effectively on this MF journey alone. My big hope was to pay it off by February 2011 by not entirely sure I will be able to do that now as a few of my circumstances have changed but will try!0

I do! but it doesn't include the mortgage. To be honest it works for me as obviously the rest of the house was paid for by me and I want to be able to say I paid it all off myself. :j0

Been reading this site for quite a while. So, was just was wondering if there are any other single MFWs. It seems an even better achievement if you manage to pay off your mortgage early on your own.
I'm single and paid off my mortgage in Jan this year. It was a long slog and the thing to remember is that it's possible, but you have to be very motivated. Also, it can bog you down at times and you mustn't let it (easier said than done lol).
Just remember to have some fun whilst your saving!0 -
Great to see more single MFWs! - Keep the good advice coming...
Yes D-seven it is important to have fun as well! can't forget that!
By the way, have you all told any of your friends/colleagues that you're overpaying??0 -
hmmm.... no not really, I get either "you must be loaded" type looks or "you must be mad type looks" if I even bring up the subject of maybe paying a mortgage off early. I tend to keep quiet and use this site as an outlet for my determination in my quest!
Have sort of talked through a few times with my partner but think he gets bored with me talking about it after a while. So my latest strategy is tell nobody apart from you lovely people on this site!
As d-seven says its a bit of a slog sometimes. You feel guilty about spending a few quid on yourself rather than paying it off the mortgage.0 -
Another singleton here too (well as far as Mortgage is concerned
)
I'm 28 and found this site back in April 2009 when my mortgage was £124,000 Have managed to get it down to £82,000 now - which I'm well happy with. I'm aware that I'm fortunate enough to have a healthy income at the moment - but also pleased that I'm using it more wisely than pi55ing it away on useless cr4p. Hoping to be MF in 3 years - fingers crossed!0 -
I'm single, and overpaying. Right now, I'm overpaying enough to have it shifted in 10 years, but I'm not sure I can keep that rate up. I like my holidays and nights out too much! This site helps though - makes me feel that bit more guilty about spending.0
