    Evening all,

I've spent the majority of today making invitations for our wedding reception (broke the cutter after putting too much paper in it, and ended up having to cut by hand with scissors). Delivered a few local ones (in our village), and have had our first RSVP - unfortunately my adopted grandmother doesn't think she will be able to make it, as she may be staying with her son in Ireland. She's really depressed as her health is starting to worsen, and she said it hasn't been the same where she lives since we moved. She's thinking of going over to Ireland to live in sheltered accomodation as everything is getting too much for her on her own. :(

Have put all of the paper trimmings in the wood burner, and I'm now off to my Zumba class. Got a stinking headache due to my cold, so don't really feel like going, but have to or I'll start making excuses like when I went to the gym, and end up not going any more.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/2017

Evening ladies (& gent, if you're still around!),
Well yesterday I bought my BM shoes, I am so pleased! I had wanted these but they only have size 3 left on the website, so I thought I would have to look elsewhere, but yesterday i went into Debenhams and found 1 size 5 pair, got talking to a very helpful chap who found me 2 more in their other stores and has got them being sent to me :j. We've also chosen our pie fillings now-chicken & mushroom or steak & red wine. very yum.
Today I went to a wedding fayre with my Mum (for some mother/daughter time) and found someone to make my Mums fascinator :j and also a lady who makes hair things which has given me an idea-please can I run it by you all to see what you think?
I haven't got a veil yet, I was going to wear my Mums but it's the wrong colour, then I was going to borrow a friends, but she doesn't want to lend it out now. SO..I have no veil. Anyway, today I was trying on sparkly hair band things and tiaras and I tried on one of their fascinators (I love big hats & fascinators, they are one thing that seems to suit me!) and someone said why didn't I wear a fascinator rather than a veil and/or tiara. I haven't considered not wearing a veil as it's just one of those "done" things, like wearing a white dress. So now I can't decide whether I'd regret not wearing a veil because I might look less bridal or whether I should go for the fascinator because it is more "me". I'd like to keep it as a surprise for my freinds, even the BM's if I can, so I need some other opinions please :D
Glad to hear everyone is slowly moving forward with their wedding planning. Hopefully we'll have our invitations out next week!

Magicboo I wouldn't worry about looking less bridal without a veil - to be honest, it seems to be more and more fashionable nowadays not to wear one. I was just going to have hair flowers in my hair (clip in ones), but then I tried on some tiaras and found one that I really liked. So, I'm having hair flowers in the back (that won't be able to be seen at the front) and a tiara at the front, but no veil.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Magicboo - if a facinator is more you, then I'd go for it. On your wedding day you want to feel like yourself, not just what is expected of you.

    I bet it'll look fab too :D

I'm personally not going for a veil but that's because I want a less formal look and it really wouldn't go with my dress!

Oh, and your pie fillings sound yum!

slightly over budget but are very nice, lady emailed saying will have the sizes i need in stock middle of week, she is based in the uk so sending back to exchange for different size be easier too. will def get a sash for each middle - 2 orange and 2 pink so think will be nice. does look short in picture but measure the length on myself and its well below my knee so on my normal heighted BM it should be all good i hope! thankyou again for reading my moan and rant!! :rotfl:

Magic boo - pie fillings sound great!
have you thought bout birdcage veil? could get something with the fascinator style on it still, or if you feel that still want the traditional veil, could you have a tradition veil for your photos/ceremony etc, then get a funky fascinator for the evening/afternoon party?

Curlylou-firstly..I love the dresses, then with a pink or orange sash around them..BEAUTIFUL! Please can I be a BM too? :D
Secondly-what a fab idea! I can combine a veil AND a fascinator! Why didn't I think of that?! I'm not sure the traditional birdcage veil will work beacuse of the style of my dress, but I reckon the lovely lady I met at the wedding fayre will be able to make something to suit...
We've just been to see 2 young lads (well, 19!) who are studying media at Uni and want to start up a videography company to a)help with their studies and b)earn some money and they are video-ing our wedding for free as it's their first one :money:! They were really nice lads and I think they'll be so conscious of not getting in the way, that they might go the other way-which is how I'd rather have it anyway! So excited we're going to have a video of the wedding!!
less than 3 months to go..!!!!:j
  • lol, course you can!! if i could fit in one i would be tempted to order too ( work putting on a late xmas do, but been told its formal...with no money for myself i need to get me and my bump into a dress i had few years ago!! lol, will not look good as wouldnt have fitted regardless fo the bump to start with! lol.

Perhaps even if its just some veil/netting material not going all the way across your face could work :D
I reckon she would be able too - explain what you want and people like that are bound to get something that will work for you personally!! how exciting!!

oh thats good! we would love ours done and was going to squeeze into budget when was on plan for june but not a chance now. Think will hire a camera and ask a friend to do it for us... just wont have the specialness of my best friends video as thats lovely, but am sure i could play around on here and add music or edit bits if can download some software for it.

Cant believe how time going so fast now! We been waiting to be moved for a while now and said thats first step of 2011.... and now its done and everything else is coming up soon!! its exciting though!!!

Magicboo - Iam also not sure about a veil as think it may be too much with my dress - what does everyone think?? Not that keen on the birdcage ones don't think it would look right on me but on the right person they look stunning!!

Coolio-we'll all be veil-less brides!! I've got emails shooting back and forward between the fascinator maker and me, trying to work out how she can work out what I want-like you Becks, I really don't think a birdcage veil will look right-but I would like a bit of netting to make it a bit veil-like!! I'm going for a dress fitting on Thurs, so hopefully I'll get some pics to a) put on here and b) show the fascinator lady!
