As the dress is a latte colour we will prolly have to go for browns but have no clue whether suits or just waistcoats, but then do we want waistcoats. Should they all be tieless or if not then cravats or ties Aaarrgghh

Do you want to chat re this next week? I can get my swatches out! x

well after a week of nearly cancelling the wedding I am back on track (dont ask). Still trying to find some lovely but comfy for dancing shoes... Really hate rainbow club et al, just not my style and I think overpriced

Am hopefully off to my mums next weekend for a final trying on session before the fittings start. The lady doing my alterations doesnt have the biggest workspace and I want to get the full effect of veil and jewellery etc.

    RSVPs still coming in.

Afternoon everyone, the countdown has really begun here and we're on the home straight! 10 weeks today!!:j:j

Received my 1st RSVP by post today as well so that's a total of 6 confirmed people (well 11 inc me, OH and our kids!) Obviously we know a lot more people r coming, parents etc. but I have told them I expect an RSVP!!

Off to our local church tomorrow to sort the paper work out to read our banns. We had our 1st bann reading last Sunday in the church we get married in, so thats 1 down, 2 to go :) Also going suit shopping tomorrow at the store I got my dress (Blossom bridal in Witney for those local) They have a 50% sale on EVERYTHING all weekend, unfortunatly it doesn't include suit hire but u never no we might get a bargain on suits to buy so it could potentially work out cheaper, but who knows I have no idea how much things r going to be but my wonderful SIL2B said this week that she will pay for all the suits!! I was shocked when OH told me! I just hope they don't cost too much!

I'm just finishing off my evening invites, they should b complete by the time I go to bed tonight so I can post them Monday morning. That will give people 1 month to reply which I think is plenty for a night out when kids r welcome :)

I think thats all I have to update, still deciding on favours, we have black organza bags for all the adults, I'm thinking of just buying 1000 white, chocolate dragees, just £9.99 on ebay and that should put plenty in each person's bag and they r cheap and cheerful. I was going to get mini eggs, I would need about 3kg according to the amount of eggs estimated in the bag and that was over £20 and they weren't cadburys. The kids (over 6 months!) will be given an activity bag to keep them occupied during the meal and whilst they are arranging the room for the evening. Their bags will contain

    Bubbles
    Crayons/colouring pencils (depending on age)
    Colouring sheets (print at home)
    I-spy camera game
    disposable camera
    sweets
    pencil
    glow stick

is there anything else anyone can think of that would be suitable?

Blimey Sammr85, seems like you got it all planned!

I just have for my kids bags:
    Colouring book
    Pencils/crayons
    Bubbles
Small packet of haribo or love hearts

hopefully that will be enough. What are you using for the bags?? I cant find gift bags cheap enough!

Hair/make up trial booked for 10th february... We are still waiting for more rsvps before we do the evening invites. Banns dont start until 6th March and I am away for my hen do, H2B will be working so no-one will be hearing them read :(
  • hi everyone! hope you are all doing ok!!

not been on here in for ages, so been trying to read and catch up a bit!
We are just about all moved now, keys for old place handed back so now have to wait for deposit back to do more wedding bits. Baby been moving lots too and had second scan other week - was amazing, couldnt see face even after being there for over hour and walking/jumping/drinking/eating etc - little one kept sucking thumb and moving hands across evertyime sonograper kept trying to view little ones face! lol.
Its been so emotional and stressful.... HAD benn looking forward to being able to concentrate on wedding things again....
however - issues or what?! have had problems with people going to hen do - bearing in mind i am not arranging it and no idea whats going on, yet istill got phone call from my mum and sister because my Future mil/sil cant afford to do whole day etc, so been told all bout rudeness etc. Next issue that my nanna isnt happy she only one from my dads side family been invited for the day.
Long story short, my dad died when i was 7, was only child so just left my nanna. His cousins/aunties dont live local, and bearing in mind my mum was a young single mum with two little ones they didnt keep in touch or see us. So taking that into account and fact that we have very limited number for the registry office there just wasnt room for them in the day. I want my and OH actual aunties/uncles etc there, not 8 members of family that i havent seen since i was 12.
We are paying for the day, so if there was help then obviously issues from my mum coundt be ignored, but physically couldnt do anything about it! cant make the registry office allow more people! Also because we have changed the date from june to april now none of them are coming for the evening at all, so my 84 year old nanna is not happy, is upset and saying she wont come because of being on her own and getting there and back (bout 25 minute drive from hers to where getting married) I told my mum that me and my OH would be sorting it out, even if it was a taxi paid for her and back - whatever time in evening she wants to leave, but mum said that we cant do that (which i am well aware of extra costs) but i dont know what i am meant to say or do?!

So after a hectic week of unpacking and painting old house etc was looking forward to today with my bridesmaids coming over measure them for thier dresses and order them....
however they have left now and i have gone to order the dresses and they dont do their sizes!!

these were the dresses, 2 of the girls are bigger bust than listed on here and bigger waist for the largest bust, and simular for other... i just dont know what to do!!
I can only afford £15 each for the dresses and have 4 in total to get. Really wanted black dresses, not full length either, but now i dont know what to do :(

OH is at work and i am in aright pickle... am sorry this is such a long post, i just needed to let it all out!!!!

    hope everyone is ok xxx

Not sure what to suggest about the dresses. What about 2 of the girls in them and the 2 bigger busted in another similar? They have a few in Debenhams 20% off at the mo. I got short prom style black dresses.
Is it black you want? Long story short: I have one of the dresses you linked too unworn in a sz 10 you can have if that would be any help??

Curlylou if you can tell us their sizes, I can have a google for similar dresses.

Just a start, but are any of these dresses from TKMaxx any good?

This one on ebay? Or this one?

Didn't notice that they were available in other colours when I first looked on your link. What colour are you after too? I love searching for things online, so feel free to use me. :)
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

sammr - your children's bags sound really good - the only thing that I can think of that kids really like (and is not too expensive) is stickers as an addition, but really I don't think they need any more. Maybe a joke they can go around telling people (like cracker jokes)? Wordsearches are always popular too for the slightly older children, and they keep them quiet for a bit which is an added bonus.

  • THanks ladies - guess that would been better place to start!! lol.

Well they are size 14 - 16/18 (which is why thought dresses be ok)

Will give their measurements i took as may help more -

a-43" bust (round fullest part) 40" waist
    b-45" bust (" ") 44 waist
    c-42" bust (" ") 38 waist
    d-41" bust (" ") 38 waist.

They are all pretty much in the same proportions really (part from one having bigger boobs and one carrying more weight around her top half)

I did really want black dresses, as the flower girls be wearing pink and orange and the groomsmen having black shirts with colored ties.

Ideally knee length really - dont want shorter than that as they are bridesmaid (plus i will be feeling like a 10tonn whale as it is! lol so wont want to feel any more unattractive! lol)

Thankyou for the links, will have a closer look tomo. I just cant afford to have the dresses taken out, oh all of this is such an effort, wish had some more money to have gotten them dresses from proper shop where made to order!!!

P.S - agree with the stickers or puzzle book idea :) thats good one. Do you have swagg shop near you? perhaps could find a little toy like sort put in party bags etc, or even a big tesco in their party section do good insides like that so maybe something little there that catch you eye?
