OK girls (& guys!), I need your calming influence. I am now-finally-starting to panic! I have a big, fat "to do" list, and keep doing things..but the things I keep doing aren't even on the list! I need to order some bits from ebay, but last night I went to order the icing for our cakes (we want bright pink!) and the icing cost £22 and the postage was £27 ! So I didn't order it, but I do need it!! I haven't printed off the O of S because I haven't had the ok from the organist, we need to buy the bottles for our wine, I need to make the table plan, but need to buy the bits to do so, I don't know if we have enough sloe gin for the welcome drink, but don't know how to work out how much we will need, I don't know how to make sure everything is remembered on the day and I don't know who will be in charge, as it's at my folks house, so we don't have a "manager" to make sure everything is going to plan!
Please can someone calm me down?! xx
Hope you don't mind me jumping in, but thought as I'm not getting married in the next few weeks I might be able to help as I don't have my own last minute bits to deal with!
Orders of Service can be printed at pretty late notice, so just contact the organist and get them to finalise what you need.
As for having a manager for the day, think of the most organised (and preferably bossy) person you know, who's not a Mother- or Father-of Bride or Groom, and allocate them the task of Manager (for me I already know it will probably be my sister's partner). Then work out exactly what needs to be done on the day, what needs putting where and when, who needs paying, etc and delegate tasks among a few people, with the Manager in overall charge. HTH!
Good luck!!

Take a big deep breath Magicboo! It'll all be alright
Pick someone who you'd be happy to delegate to, and make them the "manager", or split up the tasks amongst a trusted few. Write a list of the things on the day you want them to remember - give them the list and then you can happily forget about it.
Pick one thing at a time that you can do from your to-do list and just do it - e.g. buy the bits of the table plan, buy the wine, call the organist.
(If only I practised what I preach - I finally called the cake lady today which i've been putting off for weeks! Just one simple phone call :S )0 -

Hey Magicboo - what welcome drink are you having? I'm having sloe gin, rose & prosecco. I've done quite a few trial runs so I could help you with quantities if you want.
P.S. Venue is sure that numbers will be fine so fingers crossed we should be ok. But the register office still didn't sound convinced... I'm getting it in writing from the venue though just in case0 -

We're having sloe gin & bitter lemon (still trying to come up with a cocktail name without the words slow or bitter though!).
I'm feeling calmer today, I've emailed loads of people, I'm going to phone the photographer at lunch time & our local cake shop & see if they can source the icing-don't know why I didn't think of it before!! I've also got some close girly friends coming over tomorrow night so am going to ask them to help me sort things out whilst also making confetti cones!!
I've also written out a new list of things to do in the near future, I think I was overwhelming myself by having masses of lists, some things to do now, some the day before, things not to forget on the day etc, etc.. so now I am just looking at the "things to do now" list & putting things on the other lists as I think of them, but then leaving them again!
and breathe....!0 -

What kind of icing do you need? Sugar paste/fondant? You can buy boxes of it from Sainsburys, Tescos etc for around £2.60 per kg (or cheaper if you buy ivory, colours just the same and is actually easier to work with) You can also buy sugarflair colouring for about £2 a pot in various colours, including pink, you can either buy this online, ebay, hobbycraft or a local cake decorating shop. Then you can colour the icing yourself, it's quite time consuming but easy enough. If you do decide to do this, let me know and i'll give you some tips to make sure it doesn't crack or dry out etc. Think happy & you'll be happy

Hey Magicboo. you probably want 1 shot of sloe gin per cocktail which is usually 35ml. This means you get 20 shots/drinks out of one 70cl gin bottle. As for names go with something abstract like pink suprise or Bitter sweet symphany lol! I want to call ours an english rose but OH says its cheesy0
