Today was amazing. Some of my mums friends that she goes on holiday with aren't coming to the wedding, so we had a 'Mother of the Bride day' alongside the BM dress fittings.

So first thing this morning we all tried our dresses on! Mine fits perfectly now. All my Mum's friends were cooing and fussing me, telling me it was the most beautiful dress they had ever seen. Wowwwww!

Then we drove to Chester, had a boat ride along the River Dee, which dropped us off at the private jetty here http://www.redhousechester.com/ for champers and lunch.

Then we went back to my Mum's for a Virgin Vie party. Now my Mum hates makeup and doesn't wear it, but her best friend insisted she had a makeover and wow she looked great, and has bought all the bits she needs to recreate the look on the big day. So pleased for her!

Really fantastic day, got to see all my bridesmaids, and they looked FAB! And so did I, haha!

Insomniac you look lovely!! you will be stunning on your day :)

Gleeful - Sounds like you had a fabulous day!!! Did your other BM come round or are you still one less?

I had a bit of a falling out with one of my BM's and I'am not entirely sure what to do about it mind if I ask you ladies....

Wednesday after knowing about the dress pick up for two weeks (which was on Friday) my BM texts me at 12.03am to say she has looked where it is and feels she couldn't put her little chap (who is 6 mths old) through the long trip (which was 100 miles - 2 hours trip max) twice in one day. I texted back and asked her what on earth she thought it would do to him and she texted back saying if I didn't know that then I was obviously not ready to be a mother!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't spoken to her since I was livid not just for letting me down but about being just about the dumbest smart person I had every known.

What do I do now? if she dropped out I couldn't give a rats a s s at the mo but we have been friends for 4-5 years and although she can be a pain in the a s s and quite selfish we do get along (generally) quite well.

She has done !!!!!! all to help with the wedding as she has either been ill or too busy ..... what do I do am torn between waiting for her to come to me or just dumping her..... really not sure what to do.

Other than that we picked my wedding ring up today and it fits a treat!
Am convoing a lady on Etsy re flowers which all seems promising so just have the devilish details to do now and need to get on with printing menus and wedding programmes :0)

Becks I have asked my brothers fiance to step in. So no problem with that, she was honoured to be asked and it does make a lot of sense because she is driving some of the BM's round on the day!

I have no idea what to suggest with your BM, I've been close to sacking one of mine before now, incidentally the one who dropped out, simply because she wasn't replying to texts and I'd not seen her since October!

Gleeful thats fab news re your BM!!!

Yes its a toughie isn't .... Iam not the most diplomatic of people and I can't actually see her at the mo as I will say something which I am sure will end our friendship.

Its not about her dropping out to get the dress more the mother comment - I am not a mother.... yet however she has in the past praised my ability to put myself in her shoes and know what she needs - especially when her little chap was born... so I am struggling to know the right thing to do...

I think a good time was had by all today - the weather was lovely, and everyone enjoyed their treatments. :TWe watched 27 dresses this evening and had pizza and Ben&Jerry's (phish food & chocolate fudge brownie) with fresh strawberries for dessert. :EasterBunEveryone has gone home now, and I'm off to bed - none of us were drinking, so no hangovers tomorrow. smiley-sleep012.gif

Got my dress fitting at 2pm tomorrow, so need to get some beauty sleep and hope my tummy goes down a bit, as I'm feeling a bit bloated.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Ooh sexymouse - glad you had a lovely chilled day. Good luck with your fitting today.

Becks - sorry to hear you are having problems with BM. I have no advice as my BMs are being really flaky and I basically havent had a worry free moment about it all. They havent tried their dresses on at all yet and my mum made them. They will hopefully try them on next week, god I hope they fit.

My mum arrived yesterday with my dress and all the bm dresses. I had my fitting with the alterations lady which went well, next fitting in mid april then pick the dress up the week of the wedding, which is a relief as I cant store it at mine due to over curious H2B and I was worrying that I would have to drive it all the way to east anglia for the last couple of weeks before the wedding. Dress looks good andcan be taken up at the straps which is a relief. I have had problems with the petticoat and the dressmaker is wonderfull, she is taking out a layer of net for the next visit and is happy to remove another layer if we decide to do that. she wouldnt take the dress in at the hips though and my mum agreed. Just hoping when the net is removed the dress wont look too baggy.

My mum has made a grand total of 115m of vintage bunting for the princely sum of £25. It looks amazing! Fingers crossed its enough to do the entire barn. I have jam jars galore now and will be decorating them with lace and ribbons over the next week so will post pics when done.

Off to the third reading of the banns this morning with all the parents in tow. Just hope I can my mum to shut up about my dress. She let slip vital information in from of H2B and his entire family last night. So annoyed! They all know it has straps now and I have been saying its strapless. grrrrrr. I wanted it to be a complete surprise.

Hi, I don't usually comment on the BM issues as I only have my sister and my daughter and familys fight differently to friends! But just to say I understand where she is coming from with regards to a 2hr each way drive with a baby. It is against the recommended time for them to be in a car seat and I wouldn't have made that journey when my lad was 6 mths. If I had been asked to then declined saying I didn't think it was a suitable journey for him and had my descision questioned I'd be rater pi$sed off too I'm afraid :o

At the same time I know why you are upset but as we read time and time again on here: The person most affected by your wedding is you. Other people will never care as much about things as you will so try not to let it sour friendships if you think they should be more supportive/attentive/interested or whatever. Its not their big day....and doesn't affect their lives the way it does yours x x x

Csh - Thanks for that I didn't know there was a min/max time for babies to be in a car - I just remember the fact my parents drove with me to Luxembourg at a very very young age and then back again with my brother when he was only a few months old. We turned out ok :p

I appreciate your point of view and she does have a tendancy to be paranoid and I have a tendancy to overreact......

After radio silence since Thursday she has texted me today asking how the fitting went.....

hmmmmmm - anyway enjoy your hen do hun!! Mine is on the 9th April and I have noooo idea whats happening apart from a meal at Zizis in the evening!

Aarchuk - you better put some pics up of your barn decorated - it sounds like its going to be fab!!!

Sexymouse - sounds like you had a lovely evening :) and how good are you not drinking!!
