Virgin Wireless

  • Yes, but then I have to pay monthly for the extra speed that I don't want. I'd much rather pay a one-off fee (or nothing!).
  • I bought a wireless router from Virgin last week (an n one) and it cost £25! I too was quoted £50 but when I told them it was priced at £25 if you use the 'change your package', online ,to just add a router, thats what I got it for. (Who knows they may have changed it by now, but worth a look!)You may need an adapter if you want to use it some distance away eg upstairs, but otherwise it will work without.

This HotUkDeal is a bit of a bargain at the moment

    £12.50 +P&P for
Tenda Wireless-N150 Access Point / Cable Router

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169923

    ie
Cable router (ie assumes you have your Virgin cable modem to feed it via Ethernet into its WAN port)
    N wireless
    4 port LAN switch
    etc

I have 3 of another of the ebuyer/Tenda wireless boxes in use in UK/Italy - ie cheap and cheerful and not 100% perfect, but functional and great VFM as you'll see in the reviews there.

  • Umm, my post at 10.39 was in reply to someone who has removed their post! It looks a bit random now...

But wahey! Got myself a free router, thanks to robt for suggesting that. Only problem now is that as I have been checking out BT's website, the 'pause live tv' thing looks quite good...

And for anyone else wondering, check out BT even if you have no line as they would have sent an engineer out to do mine for free (instead of charging £130 ish). I live in a city, don't know if that made a difference or not.
