Sadly due to an addiction to this site I no longer have time to read magazines - I glean all my wisdom, tips and advice from mse0

So instead of paying for adverts which try to get you to buy stuff you don't really need, you get those adverts for free... Remind me again why this is sad?calleyw wrote:There have always been these mags like vogue etc. But over the last few years there have been more and more of them. Why because of the amount of credit that is chucked at you everytime you walk down the street.
That's exactly right. They are a sign of the times. Remember £1.1T folks.calleyw wrote:People believe that to be worthwhile person you need to be the latest "insert name here" with the £500 handbag and £150 shoes.
Yeah right my entire wardrobe of clothes including the wardrobe itself would not come to £500 :rotfl:
But even if you had a wardrobe with £500 handbags and £150 shoes - it would not be worth £500. See the charity shops for proof of that.calleyw wrote:As a nation we have become very shallow

I had actually mentioned in my email to them that I was aware that this sort of article is not meant to be taken as a serious set of instructions, so that explanation doesn't satisfy me......I still think its irresponsible.
However, don't think theres much point in trying to debate with them. They probably think I'm some bitter country type who's just jealous because I don't live the 'fabulous' life of a London magazine writer ! :rotfl:

Thank you for your recent email. We would like to point out that our writing is shallow and vacuous because our writers are shallow and vacuous, and we consider our readers to be shallow and vacuous.

I was thinking last night about how a magazine called "Real" would be if it really lived up to its name. With fashion pages by Orimark and Oxfam modelled by lovely flat chested and slightly overweight models with freckles.
And maybe the occasional article about something important like the NHS crisis, or - how about- some quality financial advice?

Yep :rotfl:
To me people have to be sooooooooooo stupid to believe that buying a £500 bag makes them a better person. As you say when it leaves the shop it is worth about 2p :rotfl:

Or "The Red Pill". I'm a bit undecided about the tag line tho.

Yes was shocked by that article too there's enough debt in the world without encouraging it!!Here dead we lie because we did not choose

 Completely hate glossy mags.
Have you noticed how they effortlessly couple together the unattainable body along with the ridiculous "gotta have/gotta do" articles?
I blame the glossies for a nation of women with no self esteem at all but a huge amount of debt.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
