I think I will send them off an email. I'll probably get some sort of reply about how the article isn't meant to be taken literally, its just a bit of fun. But sadly there are many women out there whose self esteem is so low that they think their life will be transformed by a designer handbag, and articles like this certainly won't help them. I know they exist, because I used to be one of them.....

I agree with the sentiments that you don't have to spend a lot to look good, some of the designer clothes I see are little more than rags with a large advertising label on them LOL. I prefer to spend my money on a few classy pieces that work well together so if the washer woman (me)has a weekend off I still have some work clothes etc. I will admit a passion for shoes and handbags but my most expensive handbag cost £40 (it's a huge overnight type bag) and I try to get my shoes in the all too predictable sales these days.

I completely agree! I love fashion and clothes. But being on my tight budget means that I can't afford the latest looks all the time. I wish these magazines would do articles on how cheap it can be to be fashionable!

I haven't bought any new clothes in a long time but instead, went through what I already have and found some items that I had forgotten about and hadn't worn in ages - put them together with something else and created a new look! Without spending anything! Just experiment with what you've got, be creative and take a pair of scissors to an old top or jeans and make something new out of them!

  • I don't spend much on gear, BF always tells me to "get em off" anyway ((joking!!)) but I'm ashamed to say I read some mags and love the diet pages followed by the articles how to make cream cakes. Yum. :rotfl:
