Have to sell house because of health

Actually I agree about the kettle, but you get my point about the importance of getting the bed made. :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0

Dongles: I know when I have bought I have been given a short period in which I can return it if it doesn't work in the area I have specifically asked about.
I guess it's not easy for T to get one and test it, but can anyone you know get one and test it in the new area?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thank you all for great tips and advice! woodline, I have heard a lot of negatives about dongles.
Well, seeing as I am going to be so close to home I will have nothing to worry about really; with needing the internet I can use it at my parents' house or my sisters' until I get that sorted - so I won't bother with a dongle!
jojo, savvy_Sue, kettle or bed ... bed or kettle .. Hmmm ... With the bed, if that isn't in place - I can sleep at my parents' - in 'my bedroom' where I sleep when I visit now! Although, ideally it would be nice to be able to sleep there straight away.
The kettle WILL be on A.S.A.P. when I land! My parents and my sister-in-law will be at the property the morning I move to make sure everything is ok - my sister-in-law is willing to give the kitchen cupboards etc a wipe, although they look spotless I would want to wipe them! I'm sure they will have a kettle there already!
Yes Jojo, it would be ideal if I had a few days before the buyer moves in here, however, I shall have to wait and see. I shan't contact BT about the line until I know exactly the date, but I think as soon as I get the completion date it may be a good idea to arrange the post re-direction wouldn't it?
I should hear something tomorrow on progress, but then again who knows!0 -
I've had a thought - yes, it did hurt a bit, thank you (before anyone asks)

I would possibly redirect post to your family home first, perhaps? Just for the minimum period. Guaranteed to get it no matter how long it takes to move in, then. That way you could start the redirection a bit earlier and be sure that none of your post slips through the net.
Hope it's all systems go in the morning!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Good luck T. I'm happy that everything seems to be working out for you. Living on one level will make such a difference in your life." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Well, yesterday I had news that there is a delay with the bungalow I am buying! The person who was living there passed away a few months ago and her two sons are now selling it. However, they haven't applied for probate, meaning that the bungalow is still in their mothers' name who has passed away!! That means that until they do this, which will take at least a week - it isn't theirs to sell!
I was told that if it isn't contested it should go through smoothly. I know the two sons who are selling the property and there shouldn't be a problem. What ever next!0 -
I hate to say this, but it usually takes more than a week to obtain probate! If they haven't yet applied, think 6-8 weeks ...
Of course, if they have applied and are just waiting for their interview, that could be a lot faster.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Oh oh!! They have only been told about this a couple of days ago! I asked how long it would take and was told a week OR SO! Looks they are just telling me what I want to hear! So they will have an interview after filling in the forms?
Well, there is nothing I can do about it, I just have to wait and see what I'm told next week when they say they'll contact me!
In the mean time I'm just trying to rest and just pack a little at a time! Looking around the house ... I've almost packed every cupboard and drawer and so it looks like the most I will have is the clothes that are in the wardrobe and one food cupboard. To be honest, I think I am fairly sorted - it would be quite possible to pack everything that's left in a day!
I am now going to rest as much as possible as I feel that my body is packing up on me - which is a big sign that I have been pushing myself too much!
Thank you all for all your help, tips and comments ... it is much appreciated.;)
I shall let you know of any developements (if anyone is interested) or problems that arise!

With your health problems, you've done an amazing job to get so organised. Perhaps the delay in the house move will be good for you. You can get plenty of rest before you have to start unpacking everything!
I had a relative die at Christmas. His estate was very straightforward. There was a buyer waiting for his house - he had arranged this while he was still alive - but things aren't quite finalised yet so don't fret about the time.0
