March 2011 Brides

Hi, another March Girlie here!
We're on for the 19th March and have so far (provisionally) booked the registry office, I'm waiting for my change of address stuff to start coming through so that we can go and do our notices. We've also booked the restaurant for the late lunch following the ceremony.
Seeing as we've just decided to do this we've not got too long but it's going to be small and laid back - no theme, no colour scheme, no official bridesmaids yadda yadda yadda
I've got my wedding ring in a drawer, DH2B is looking at titanium rings on the internet of an evening. Dress hunting is starting on Saturday 4th December with a visit to the local bridal shop.
What else do we need? Ideas anyone?
Thanks
Icey xx
Oooo! 19th that's the weekend before mine! It's getting close isn't it! :j
We've only been engaged for a couple of months but have got most of it sorted now.
I guess it depends on how low key you are planning on having your wedding. A few things off the top of my head....
H2B's suits
Flowers (if you are having any? I have made bouquets for me and four bridemaids using foam flowers for less than £50! It was really easy)
Transport to and from venue?
Shoes and any other accessories (I got most of mine from ebay - shoes £19, necklace £17. My tiara was £44.50 from Glitzy Secrets)
A cake if you are having one (M&S do nice ready iced fruit cakes quite cheaply that you can add your own detail to)
Hope that's of some help

Hi Emsbet
DH2B has an Ozwald Boateng suit which he looks scrumptious in so he's really looking forward to wearing that. I might see if I can afford a new OB shirt for him to wear but at nearly £200 I shall have to think carefully!
I've been engaged for 5 days (officially) and about 2 weeks unofficially. We're both people that want to get on and do something one we decide on it and March was the earliest time I could get a few days off work.
Flowers, I'll discuss them with my Mum when we go to look at dresses on 4th Dec. No bridesmaids so only me and some button holes for DH2B , Father in Law 2B, Family friend giving me away.
Do Mothers of the Bride / groom have flowers?
Transport is the classic Beetle (Blue!) that belongs to the Family friend that is giving me away - very MSE!
Cake, I'm hoping a friend of my Mum will offer to make one for me. She made my sisters and it was yummy.
Wedding attire, dresses to be looked and oohhh and ahhhed over on 4th Dec, hopefully find something that looks good. Fingers crossed, I can't be bothered with the whole search for the perfect dress thing - I'm wanting something that looks V nice and isn't too extortionatly expensive. Possibly the perfect dress would be all of the above actually :rotfl:
Shoes etc, I'll keep an eye out and see what I like. I'll make a note of the heel height when I try on a dress and see if I can match it.
It is quite exciting but really just want to be married rather than have a wedding if that makes sense?Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
I know what you mean about wanting to get on with it! I have almost everything sorted now! The only bits that aren't done are those that other people are sorting!
Sounds like you're pretty much on the ball! The car sounds cool!
My mum is sorting the cake - we were just going to get one of the ones I mentioned from M&S as neither of us is fussed about cake (I'd rather just eat a slab of chocolate!) but my mum insisted so I've just let her get on with it!

I know what you mean, we feel the same. Our wedding is a lot bigger and more traditional that I thought we would have but as I started planning I realised I wanted a lot of the things I didn't think I would! Also family politics has dictated the size of the guest list! The actual ceremony and reception are small just like I wanted so I guess I can live with the larger numbers at the evening do!

DH2B shocked me into action yesterday by asking if I realised that we were getting married 11 weeks on Saturday
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
OMG!, I had no idea it was getting that close!
But, dress ordered, notices given, restaurant booked, evening venue found, cake agreed, we're getting there.
Still to do: Book evening venue, decide finger buffet menu and order, decide restaurant menu (1st week March), order flowers, find cake stand to borrow, sort out cars, hotels, invitations ... eek! More than I thought thenWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Ok starting to get exciting now ladies!
I've ordered dress, got rings and sorted paperwork (wedding abroad).
Chosen shoes and jewellery. Need to decide on H2B and Dad's suits. Not sure if there's anything else? As I'm going away don't need to worry about venue or flowers, but have I missed something??? Help xx0 -

Ooooooo! It is so exciting! I'm counting in weeks now :j (and occasionally in days thanks to my iPhone app)
- 11 on friday.
I can't think what else you might need for a wedding abroad.
I'm pretty much sorted now, just the things that I can't do until closer the time - like final table plan etc.

Me too - only 8 weeks on Saturday :j:eek::j
Exciting and rather scary... still feels like quite a bit to do, but hopefully seeing florist, hotel and having hair trial in next week or so which should help me to feel more organised. Also got to buy underwear, do some crafty stuff, help H2B's mum find outfit, pay balance for photographer and bus etc.....
ooo and one other thing people might be able to help with - have other people got something to help keep warm? My dress is strapless and keep thinking I prob ought to get something as it'll prob be freezing, maybe some kind of stole/shawl/shrug/???? Don't plan to be outside for long, but might be chilly in church. Any ideas?

I had this worry. My dress is also strapless but I didn't think I would need something except for when we are outside having photos taken (if it's not raining).
I saw some lovely fake-fur shrugs but they were around £70-£80! I spoke to the lady who is making my dress to see if she could maybe make me something in the same fabric as my dress and she said to be honest if I was only wearing it for a short timethen it probably wouldn't be worth the extra money. So I went on eBay and bought a cream pashmena/shawl that cost me about £2.60!
It won't be in any photos I will just have it on for the inbetween photos part so it doesn't matter that it's not satin but at least I'll be warm:A 09.06.11:A 07.10.11:A

Thanks, that's what my bridesmaid/best mate suggested as well(also have same issue for her too), seems like it could be the best solution :T0
