HDMI Cables

Do hdmi cables really improve the picture quality of a t.v. I have just bought a 32" Phillips 1008p tv and it is connected with scart leads. The salesman said i was best buying hdmi leads to get even better quality picture from the set. The leads were i think 30 odd quid but thought maybe he was trying to get that little bit more out of my pocket. But now it has got me wandering the picture looks sharp enough to me so would i really see an even better picture.
On another thought can anyone tell me what Country of origin Phillips are.
Thanks.

Home Bargains have HDMI cables 1.5 metre length for £2.99. This will connect, say, a bluray player, upscaling dvd player or gaming system to your television set.
There are different HDMI standards though, so check user manuals and see what the manufacturer recommendeds for optimum connection:

Have a look at AV Forums too:

Forget all the expensive cables - the HDMI signal is sent digitally, so regardless of the sales pitches that mention 'gold interconnects' and 'oxygen free copper strands', a personal guess is that the £2.99 cable will be adequate for your for your viewing needs - I believe that you only begin to experience any kind of signal degredation at 2+ metre lengths and even then it will be barely noticeable.0 -

Thanks guys. I'm connecting to a L.G dvd recorder with hard drive and i have sky not sky plus box just the ordinary bog standard one.
As a few of you have pointed out about the price range. I have seen them on the web from £1.99 to 60 odd quid.
I did not want to get the 30 odd quid ones in the shop in case i could not see an improvement on an allready good picture and on the other hand when i got reading about them did not want to waste money on cheap ones.
I think I'll just get a cheap set and see how it goes.
Thanks as allways:beer:0 -
well your sky box dosnt have hdmi output so you will need to keep scart for that. You will also need scart to record on your dvd recorder. Does your dvd recorder actually have hdmi output?0

Hi, just had a look i did not think the sky box had one or not so i checked and it has not but the dvd does have one0
