Northumberland is nice, We used to have a caravan and go to a place called Old Hartley, near Whitley Bay. North Yorkshire is also good, Richmond, Whitby, Bolton Abbey, there are loads of nice sites. Have you got a camping directory of sites.

have stayed in cottages in North Yorks, Runswick Bay, Whitby, Filey also a couple of times in Northumberland, spent a lot of nice weekends in the lakes in nice hotels too, was trying to find somewhere different that we hadn't been, fed up trying to save money this way, maybe just stay at home, could put tent in back garden...............

we've been to a few in Scotland which were really nice, but probably you wouldn't want to go there. There is a Caravan Club site at Pitlochry which is absolutely great, Toilet and shower blocks immaculate, but I suppose that is too close to home for you.
