It is just down to wear and tear.

Well it isn't. As per the post its done it since new.

Poster, you need to explain that its always had that fault to your dealer and see if they listen. If you bought it from them remind them of that and if they want to keep you as a customer they should help.

And I am guessing from your posts so far you have not read the 'Forum Etiquette' or are you just Anihilator under another user name.

Surely a reason to take it back quickly then or at least report it so it will be done under warranty instead of waiting.

  • £100 to fix a slack parking brake cable? I'm unfamiliar with Polos but how does it cost £100 to wind the adjuster on two wheels?

I'd go elsewhere. It's 20 minutes work at the most.

If someone is too heavy handed then they can easily stretch.

    Utter botox.

If a cable stretches on a newish car, it is faulty.

By and large the Polo cables don't stretch, they are pretty good. You might have to tweak it up a bit after 5 or 6 years, but nothing more.

If the car was like this from new then I suspect it wasn't adjusted up properly at delivery (handbrake cable adjust is part of PDI).
