Did you get accepted for the American Express card?

Which AMEX card was it specifically?

This is what I've meant about these companies snooping around - once they've done their one single credit search, they should get their big noses OUT - nosey $%£$%£s.

The 2nd search isn't a search that's visible to anyone but you. They're only done 1 search as far as anyone else is concerned.

The 2nd search will be from their fraud prevention people most likely.

    Nothing to get excited over.

I've just got the Amex cahsback card and had the same thing. The 2nd search is only vivible to the person being searched as stated.

    Nothing to worry about.

So far Amex is very impressive with customer service.
  • As above.

You can do nothing, and need do nothing. Lots of companies search 'twice'. One for credit checking, second for fraud / identity checking. The second is seen only by you.

Not all the time. Sometimes they need to do further checks as is the case with all cards. 3 outcomes - accepted, referred or declined.

At last,i ve got final decision as CIFAS recorded on my name/address,i ve checked my Experian,a CIFAS logoooo is on it for impersonation.
I got letter from American Expr. today quoted WE HAVE RECENTLY RECEIVED AN APPLICATION IN YOUR NAME.PLS,WOULD YOU PHONE US ON 08702414546 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.THIS IS BECAUSE INFORMATION WE HAVE RECEIVED SUGGEST THAT YOUR NAME/ADDRESS/PERSONAL INFORMATION MAY HAVE BEEN USED BY ANOTHER PERSON TO IMPERSONATE YOU.BECAUSE OF THIS WE NEED TO ASK YOU TO PROVIDE PROOF OF YOUR IDENTITY & ADDRESS IN ORDER TO CONFIRM THAT YOU MADE THIS APPLICATION.
IF YOU CONFIRM THAT YOU MADE THE APPLICATION,IT LL BE A LITTLE DELAYED WHILE WE VALIDATE YOUR DETAILS/CONFIRM YOUR IDENTITY.IF WE FIND THAT YOUR DETAILS HAVE BEEN MISUSED,WE INTEND TO RECORD THE IMPERSONATION WITH CIFAS.
American Express have added my name/address on CIFAS already before sending their letter to me.I dont know where i have got wrong,i have very good job+£50k,excellent credit score,i have only one credit 15k limit with MBNA and i have only £118 outstanding for travel card, which i have paid off,i applied this because of my sister and used her bank account to set up DB/card protection. They can call my company and verify me before taking unnecessary decision on me.What can i do

It's nothing to do with your score or income atall mate don't worry.

It's because you or someone else was a victim of impersonation at your address and as such creditors to further checks to make sure it's not a repeat incident.

As long as you send them exactly what they ask for and explain it was you over the phone and that ID will follow, there shouldn't be any problems, as you say you have a good salary and excellent credit history so go with the flow and all should be good :o

If they do decline you after sending your ID it won't be due to the CIFAS marker, but because of either your sending slightly different documents to what they are asking for, or failed credit scoring (which seems unlikely given your existing credit history).

    Good luck :o
