m6 toll rd
The toll rd was put there to take away congestion off surrounding major roads. surly keep increasing the prices makes it harder for people to afford so decreases the amount people use it.
It would be more profitable if they decrease the cost then they would get far more people using it which inturn would increase there profits & take off more congestion off the other roads. this was why millions was spent building it at the moment its not used the way it should be

I totally agree with you, when it first opened we used it regularly, we travel to our family in Stafford and it made the journey so much easier, however as the price has gone up and up we used it less and less, now we never use it! Adding £10 to a weekend visit on top of the price of petrol is way too much, also family coming down to visit us don't use it either, so the M6 toll is the loser.0

I think they should make the speed unlimited. People would pay then
If you pay to use it then it must be private land?!

what is the saving in miles when using the toll road ?0

The people that I know that use it do so on company expenses - so the cost isn't so much of an issue.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I've only ever driven on the road that runs parallel with it, the A5 I think. The toll road does always seem almost desertedI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

I'd guess it's a shorter route but don't know by how much.
I use it all the time, company pre-paid tag, as it cuts out the bottle neck between J10-J8. At peak times that bits a nightmare, even more so now with the roadworks.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
The big problem being it's roughly a fiver for a car weighing a ton and a tenner for a 44 ton truck, i do use it in the truck occassionally when i know for a fact that there are delays on the M6 main..you can't trust the overhead gantries telling the truth about possible delays for obvious business reasons....trafficmaster analogue signal is still operating at the moment (soon to be switched off) so i know the true situation by that.
I won't use it in my own car as it's a complete rip off with ambiguous signing at the southern end designed to trick the unwary and strangers onto it by mistake and paying a fiver for a 4 mile leg to Lichfield....could be forgiven for thinking this was designed by nulab as another stealth tax its so sneaky.0 -
I use it when travelling between London and Manchester, it is a 'breath ' of fresh air .
Suddenly no traffic, driving is pleasure . Then its a pop into the service station , nice break, no hassle to rejoin the motorway. Revived , look forward to the rest of the journey.0 -

But it doesn't really.
In December at £4.70 they had 42,000 using it- very approx that is £195K. They had 50,000 using it at £3.50 in 2005 about £175K.
For every vehicle you have on the road you increase the maintenance cost too on the road.
Thus economically it makes more sense for the private company to have a higher price on the road!
What should have been done was have an index linked toll set by the DfT at the start- say £1.50 in 2003. That would have kept it affordable and encouraged use to meet what it is designed for, but a private company is simply interested in the bottom line!0
