There should be. The idea of going free is that not enough people are paying for the channel and they would make more charging more for advertising now that they will have a larger audience.

That'll be why Sky Movies have started an advertising campaign about the fact they don't show adverts during the films.
I must say, advertising is getting more on the annoying side. Not only are the adverts increasingly crap, but trying to watch a film on channel 5 is awful because they chop it up so much, and have you ever tried watching ABC1? They have a really bizzare advert pattern that plays hell with continuity0 -
The ABC1 pattern is similar to the USA pattern of advertising which goes as follows
end of old programme
intro segment of new programme
*ADVERTS
first segment of programme
*ADVERTS (+)
second segment of programme
*ADVERTS
end of programme
intro segment etc etc
Except, ABC1 misses out the middle advert (with the +). Kind of good in a way since you can see the bulk of a programme in one go.0
