Ok whats the reasons for it then Bob? What if a company gets 400 applicants, every single one should get a reply in your opinion?.....what a waste of manpower, time and ultimately costly....IMO only interviewee's deserve a compuslory reply.
I guess if you haven't heard 2-3 weeks after the closing date then you should accept you were unsuccessful.
It's called email.
You create a generic failure email were you put everyone's address in to the BCC field and another company mailbox into the To field.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Not everyone provides an email......then what?
Isn't that a bit like saying that because not everybody has access to the internet that companies shouldn't advetise jobs there? Why discount a simple, effective and cheap method of communication just because some people don't provide an email add?0 -

I never discounted it, I have to say I'm not actually against doing the group email to say no, 1 letter and some emails is not hard, its the sending letters I object to because it is time consuming!Always ask ACAS0 -

I agree with that.0 -

No letters need to be sent. All that needs to happen is for the company to suggest an email is provided (if not already done so) so that a response can be sent to the interviewee.0 -
OK - I throw the towel in - I have based my post on applying for many jobs without a reply and as I stated, it doesn't bother me in the slightest because I fully understand the process and appreciate what HR personnel and managers have to do (along with their other duties). I am happy with that - end of!
So you are happy when you get an interview but then never hear anything again (my original point) ?0 -

I am wasting my time here.
No - ALL of my postings have been with reference to hubb's original post regarding the lack of responses from job aplications - not interview feedback. I am not interested in YOUR original point - but I was giving my opinions based on the OP's apparent disillusion with job applications and the lack of response from them and attempting (with great difficulty) to explain the processes involved that might go some way to explaining as to why the OP may not be receiving acknoledgements relating to his/her job application(s).
You have drifted somewhat into responses from JOB INTERVIEWS which is another matter.
Indeed, I have never stated in this thread that it is acceptable for interviewees not to get feedback - you have assumed that.
In fact judging by your posting below in response to jdturk you have agreed to what I have been attempting to put over all along!Originally Posted by jdturk

So then you do now concede that when a company gets 400 applicants you "agree" that it is a waste of manpower, time and cost to respond to every applicant? The point I and other posters have been attempting to put over to you for 3 pages of this thread.
You are continuously contradicting yourself - please make up your mind on what your stance is on the original posters comments.Isn't that a bit like saying that because not everybody has access to the internet that companies shouldn't advetise jobs there?
BTW, recruiters do not just restrict placing their job vacancies on line. Newspapers, jobcentreplus and recruitment agencies are also used to advertise the same jobs - this ensures that those who do not have email accounts or regular internet access have a decent chance of being made aware of any vacancy. But I am sure you knew that anyway.0 -

Your response being Your words not mine.

It seems like you aren't reading any of my repsonses correctly. I have throughout this thread indicated that I am referring to lack of response after interview. I will also say again that my original post was in response to another poster who made that point so I am not the one that "drifted somewhat".
If you agree that interviewees should get feedback then why not just say earlier rather than have long winded replies with liberal use of the highlighter?
I don't quite know why you are picking out my reply to jdturk. Even an idiot can see that I was referring to (and highlighted) one sentence not the whole thing.
I have not contradicted myself anywhere.0 -

Please have a look again and read carefully!
I have responded to your post and the quotation you placed after it.
You "AGREE" that ONLY interviewee's deserve a compulsory reply which contradicts your numerous postings that suggests applicants should also receive replies - irrespective of the number of applicants.
Again, the thread is (was) related to lack of responses from job applications - not interviews.
This thread is now becoming personal and we can go on playing on line tennis. Maybe I am an idiot, but you have your opinions - I have mine - let others judge!0
