I had a mega wardrobe clearout full of such delights as you have described, yet from an even older vintage since I have a few years on you!

I have to say, I've not regretted getting rid of one single thing, even though one of the reasons for chucking out was "I'll never fit into it again" and I have now lost enough weight to fit into it if I still had it.

So, it was far more than a practical space creating exercise, it was as much a "clear your wardrobe, clear your mind" type thing :D

Sadly it all fits so its not like I can use that as an excuse or even a starting point. Still have my old pleated sixth form skirt which I barely wore to school as it was too nice for that. Not entirely sure why its stillin my wardrobe. Worse still was the unearthing of a pin striped suit. Haven't worn a suit to work in well over a decade. Now wondering if I'll actually have any clothes left once I start. Beginning to think I need an accomplice in crime to laugh and say what the heck are you putting that monstosity back in there for. I even have a Levi 501 black demin jacket, two sizes too big, purchased for £50 at age 14 on the basis that it was uber cool and I would eventually grow into it. I never did. And yet it still languishes on a hanger. Its sounding worse by the minute isn't it.

Oh I didn't just get rid of clothes that I had hoped to slim into - some were definitely uber-vintage, some I hadn't worn for ages, some I had borrowed and never given back :o (all returned to their rightful owners now, who in turn are wondering what to do with them no doubt!), some that I had been given by well meaning work colleagues when I was very skint and of fluctuating weight, but as they were 20 years older than me, the "style" was not necessarily what I needed.....

I also got rid of some maternity stuff......my youngest is now almost 15 :rotfl:

I made a start on Operation Wardrobe and reduced the contents by two bin bags simply by tackling the two smallest rails. Gone is the archaic denim jacket, half a dozen work shirts that I'll never need again, a skirt with decidedly dodgy looking hips, some v. knackered jeans and a whole heap of OHs stuff that didn't fit. Will cull jumpers after work today. Found a load of stuff one of the neighbours dumped on me in the hopes of trendying me up. I'll never wear it. I'm not a clingy hooded top with boobs on show kinda trollop. Not that the neighbour in question is a trollope as that would be offensive to all trollopes out there. Mutton dressed as embryonic lamb is closer to it. Not that people shouldn't be allowed to wear whatever the heck they like, its just that staring at crepe paper boobs isn't the most attractive look ever and mufin top hipster trendy track pants in gold lame. Kinda reminds me of Bet Lynch in her leopard print lycra days.

Went out for dinner in a skirt much to OHs amazement. Mine too actually as I had forgotten all about the skirt in question. Had a fab meal. Was nice to be able to carry off a conversation without random interuption from a v. inquisitive child. Still finding it v. odd that the DDs aren't about. You don't realise just how many random hugs and cuddles you have with them until they're not around. Not missing the various shouts from the top of the stairs though. Its blissfully peaceful.

Made a start on the decorating at school yesterday. Emptied half of a room, filled and sanded the walls and painted the edging. Need to overfill in a couple of places before I can roller the walls. Must pace myself though otherwise my boss will add more things to my to do list which is already ridiculously long.

I have decluttered four live hens to a friend. Thats four fewer mouths to feed and birds to round up at night. More importantly thats 28 fewer eggs to dispose of each week.

Off to tackle the jumpers whilst I'm on a roll.

Made it as far as the wardrobe. Took one look and had second thoughts. Finished reading a novel instead and spent a happy hour playing Band hero on the Wii before sucumbing to that infuriating anagram game on Facebook. Quite why I torture myself with it on a daily basis is beyond me. Psis isn't a real proper honest to goodness word, not one in every day use. How on earth am I meant to come up with that as a solution to a puzzle? Its bally infuriating yet I continue torturing myself with it.

The DDs are back tomorrow and I have achieved diddly squat from the ginormous list of things to do whilst the DDs were absent. Still the peace has been lovely although I'll be glad to have them home. The days seem so much longer without them around.

OH has yet to pack although rumor has it hes off on a course imminently which means another break from normality. Am hoping Jyst Dance will arrive v. soon so that the DDs and I can have a girly night in playing that and painting toe nails and all the other daft stuff we do when theres just us... like eating tinned sphaghetti on toast in front of the telly. Shhh. Its one of OHs pet hates.

Must attempt to be more organised in the morning. Got v. carried away pootling about doing irrelevant things and suddenly realised at 7:30 that not only was I not in the car on my way to work but I was not dressed either. Tis a good job its a weekend and there was no one about to see me in full blown bag lady mode.

Seem to be losing track of the little things again which will undoubtably result in the slippery slope that is the conviction that theres a crisp tenner in my wallet when actually its full of bits of paper, emergency plasters and a whole lot of coppers. I need to get my brain back in the MSE zone. Theoretically I would claim that the past week has been super frugal since I haven't been anywhere (apart from out for dinner) nor have I done anything apart from go to work but a receipt check says different:

Dog lead £3 (to replace the one snapped by hairball #2)
    Kebabs for 2 £7
Dinner out in swanky restaurant £39
Milk £6 (succumbed to kit kat chunkies and vino)
    Ace dictionary £6
    Wii Just Dance £17
    Medicine at vets £32

Grand total of £110 of which £74 was v. frivolous and totally unnecesary.

This week I have to pay £120 for car tax, fill the car with at least £30 of go-go juice, fork out £50 for Pony Fun Day and £140 for the first of our jollys plus the purchase of food and dog food and have also promised DD1 a new matress which I'll assume will be at least another £150. Thats £500 or two thirds of my salary gone in the blink of an eye.

Have finally cashed out of Global Test Market so will hopefully get a cheque for £20 or so, dependant upon exchange rate, in the next few months. Am most definately not missing being screened out of surveys. Recently for every ten surveys I've attempted I've been screened out of 8 meaning I've wasted roughly half an hour plus the thirty minutes it takes to do the damn things in order to gain 60 points or £1.20. I am no longer that desperate for cash that I need to prostitue myself for so little. Several years ago it was a v. different story and the extra income really did make a big difference regardless of the amount of time it took to achieve. However life moves on and I have so many demands on my time that the time itself is far more useful to me than the £1.20 an hour suvey income, especially when the likes of P!necone pay £3 for 15 minutes.

    Hi Moo

What gets me about Global is that there is no consistency. The points given for surveys of the same length can very dramatically.

Take today for instance I have gone into my emails and clicked on a survey, the reward is 3 daily and 3 monthly entries to the prize draw, the survey length was 15 minutes
Why would I waste my time when actually I am not getting a reward from it?

Another survey gave 40 points and that was for 10 minutes!!

I'm being really picky with them at the moment as I need to up my points so I can assess whether I carry on. The only problem being I only have 370 points so got a long way to go as yet.
