Morning all, been MI, life has been a bit busy, done a few extra hours in work covering for a colleague, but they're spread out, so 13 1/2 hours paid work takes more than 13 1/2 hours of the week, plus getting sorted to go out every day. Pay review means that us casual staff are getting a 46% pay cut at the end of this month, I guess next month I shan't be as willing. Hoping for some more sewing to do.

Been busy on domestic sewing reecently, yesterday shortened a new fleece for ds, pair of combats and pair of joggers, he also decided that his morris dancing trousers were too long, so did those too. Hoping to get cracking on some of my UFOs (Unfinished Objects) before starting to make some summer tops.

WM on, DW needs emptying, need to do yoghurt and bread as well, rest of vac round and a kitchen tidy. Prep dinner for tonight, might do an impromptu chilli as there are various peppers mouldering in the fridge. Or I think I have a chilli meat loaf recipe somewhere. Do you think the meat would go further if I did some wraps? Have a recipe for 'green rice' which I could do and give the new FP some exercise. Random thoughts eh? Then there's the usual question 'is there any pudding?'

    Need a freezer audit soon....as....

My new challenge is to try and get the freezer emptyish before we go on holiday 2nd July. Try and use up some of the bits and pieces. It will also mean that I try and s-t-r-e-t-c-h what is in the house as far as possible, using up some of the things that seem to lurk forever.

I find that I have less time here as the days get lighter, I spend fewer hours at the computer as life begins again for me after the SAD of the winter. Doesn't mean I don't think about you though!

boys are being monkeys again and OH is still in bed, the poor things has got my cold and been run ragged all week at work :( so just going to leave him up there.

My sister gave me a new pair of beautiful curtains yesterday they are from Next so nice ones, they go beautifully in my conservatory, but are too long, I am useless at sewing, does anyone have any ideas where I could get them taken up ??

you can buy heeming form poundland (think its a six pack). My mum did this with hers, you place a towel under the material you want to hem up. Place hemming tape over it, place another towel over the yop the hemming tape and iron over it.Take off the towel and bobs your uncle its done. My mother does this all the time, so it does work for her, no sewing required.

Julie - your DD is lucky have you all around her.The poor thing aww

Ah well back to sorting the kitchen out :(

Morning all :) hope you are all well.#

Hester - glad your OH has finally been paid
NPM - I love some of the descriptions little ones come out with. My nephew (2) saw a girl on rollerskates last week, stared at her for a bit then shouted "car shoes" :rotfl:
jayward - do your buns come out okay using the kenwood? Mine overbeats like nothing on earth, so I only use it for fruit cake and pasta.
Mancmillymolly - sorry about your work news :( People can be really selfish.

I'm packing, as I'm flying out to see the outlaws later today. I don't want to go. I feel carp because I don't want to go then doubly carp because i have to. It's only for the weekend, but I'm so busy I could really do without it. OH was looking for hotels for them to come over again later in the year too :( I feel mean, but I just can't cope with them. My own parents stopped treating me like a five year old many many years ago.

Breakfast has been eggs for me - OH has gone to print boarding passes. Lunch will be left over curry just so it isn't sitting around in the fridge. I'm just about to tidy up the rest of the chocolate orange that's on the table too :D

I'm going to put another load of laundry on in a sec and clean the flat so it's tidy when I get back. Nothing worse than coming back to a house that's a complete tip! I have to pack up some craft materials for a member of my other forum who volunteers for a charity and wants craft stuff donations - so they are ready to post when I get back and fiddle a bit with my folksy shop graphics (we have an easter egg hunt competition running from next week - I was going to pop it on the comps board, but I didn't know if I was allowed given I'm affilated with the site)

I have been charged with the task of importing as much Haribo as I can carry from Germany for an American colleague. Should be fun :) We are stopping in Brussels on the way back (flying out, coming back by train) so I need to pop out and pick up some chocolate sprinkes too.

Right, must go, have a good day all, cel x

    Good morning

I did a long post which I promptly lost, although thinking about it is probably just as well as it waffled on a bit.

Reverbe - Sorry, I am useless with these gadgets, but bless you for taking the time to try and pm me:A

Goodness, I did sound depressed yesterday didn't I? I felt worse yesterday than on previous years as I think it was the 30 bit. But anyway, thank you everybody for your kind thoughts, I tend to think we're the only ones in this situation.

Back on track OS wise today, WM on its second load and all the hoovering done. Gammon joint (£3.50 from Mr T) in the slow cooker. Will do for tonight and tomorrows dinner.

Have a great Saturday and thanks again for being on here for me yesterday.

    G'morning all :)

Today's the day . . . park re-opens and the masses started arriving a few minutes after 9am. Everything is ready that needs to be, but so much yet to be done as it slowly turns over to completely privately owned vans.

When I've finished here I'm off to bake a couple of small 'loaf' cakes, cheating and using some Wrights mixes I have, I'll just do a glaze icing to drizzle over them. Quick, simple and just a little treat to have with a cuppa over the weekend. Not a whole lot of OSing going on other than the baking. Dinner today is chippy fish~n~chips, tea will be some leftover oven bbq'd chicken and a salad. I've gotten the chicken out of the freezer for roasting tomorrow - have been doing them in the SC, but fancy someting a bit crispier now.

Still mulling over window treatment options, and a food sealer. Been on about the food sealer for months and have saved to get one but can't decide which now, lol. Am happy to pay more for a quality/long lasting model but there seems to be only about 3 available and not many reviews that I can find. There are some commercial grade ones . . . but I've not saved THAT much! :D

Sun is out so I may just go have a wander around the park whilst I still can without being stopped every 5 seconds for something. Will be needing some gloves on tho, the wind is blowing quite hard into the park off the sea and v. cold! deep_freeze.gif

Good morning all, or should that be afternoon?

I've been shopping for food; why does it always take longer to pack it away at home that to actually buy it?

It's a lovely day here - still pretty cold but very sunny with blue skies, so I have washing on the line. The forecast looks good for next week, but I'm not holding my breath!

DH is plastering the hall - he wants to get that bit finished because the floor tiles are arriving next week.

Dinner tonight is something with mince but I haven't decided what yet.

My internet connection has been fine since I rebooted the Livebox; Orange thought the problem was with my computer so I'm glad it wasn't.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day. Lots of (((hugs))) to those who are poorly.

  • Just back from music group which didn`t go well this week. When I got back to pick DS up he was sat on a rug away from the others with his face hidden. apparently she couldn`t get him to do anything today as he kept flapping andshouting out "James Barr, Galaxy FM" and doing various other radio things, wanting to put glasses on to pretend to be Chris Evans etc:o so I brought him home.
Now sat having ham sandwiches for lunch before we start the clean up of the house and baking.
I am making barley, chorizo and savoy soup with some HM bread for tea. DS will have something else.... He ate pasta with ham and tomato and cream for tea yesterday:T.
jackieglasgow can DS1 not get diagnosed anywhere? Thats so unfair as mild or not he will still have difficulties and is entitled to help and support.
Julie sorry to hear about DD:(. I was there myself 5 years ago and spent 18 months on my own with DS before meeting OH. My parents live miles away so it was just DS and I alone which was hard so she is very lucky to have you all.....it is sad now but in the future she will see why it happened and will probably be in a better place....she won`t believe this now though as I didnt when my mum told me :o:(;)

NPM. He didn't even get his diagnostic testing done til last year, just before he turned ten. The paediatrician was more concerned with telling me off for not getting them the MMR. She said that he has some very peculiar personality traits which will need some careful management, but nothing pronounced enough or making having significant enough impact on his quality of life to justify a diasnosis (Asperger's was the expected outcome). In some ways I am happy with this, as it means he can try and get on at school as he would need to when he's a grown up, but it also means that the school can now absolve themselves of all responsibilty when he displays difficult behaviour. Which isn't often, mind you, he's a fantastic boy, and his IQ measured in the 99th centile, which means that he manages well with the technical requirements at school, but the other side of that is that I think it masks a lot of his difficulties. They have acknowledged that he has communication difficulties, and he received S&LT for quite a while, which has been a good help for us all. They all said they fully expect he will need referral back to them when he's about 14 or 15, so we'll just play it by ear.

As I said, he just seems a wee bit "quirky" or eccentric to others people. When I see Quinten Tarantino on the TV I think that's how he'll act as an adult (although my boy is far better looking, of course!), but hey, he's a genuis and a multi millionaire, so it can't all be bad?

ETA I just wanted to add while I'm thinking about this, that I was both happy and surprised that the outcome was a -ive diagnosis, as were the school, but my OH was glad as he didn't want him labelled when it's not yet having a profound effect on ihis life. I suppose the plan is now that we review it regularly, and if we feel it warrants a second opinion then we'll go for it.

Sorry to go so OT everyone else.

    Hi All:hello:

Still not caught up on dailies but wanted to send my sympathies to Lamewolf. I know how much your furry friends mean to you smiley-hug013.gif

NPM - Love the description of the eggs - dead cute how your littleun loves the radio :D

Jackieg - hugs to you too m'lady

Don't really have too much to report. My fridge freezer has been delivered and i can/t turn it on until 430! It looks a good size though for my needs and I am happy. I really should be up the road buying stuff to batch cook up a storm, but i'm not:o

I still have no carpet in my living room, but will be getting other bits and pieces done in the house, so seems sensible to keep the floor covering up until that is done. So yesterday i rearranged it and tried to make it look more homey - but have put my back out in the mean time doing so. Silly girl, will never learn. Spent most of the night waking up in pain, so feel rubbish today. Worst thing is I could really be tempted to start gutting my bedroom today as it's become terribly cluttered and could do with a good clean. But that would involve more lifting, which seems a tad unwise. I hate the mind and body disagreements! :o

Anyway, I haven't really said anything OS have i? That's possibly why i've not been in here much as I don't have much OS to report at the minute (and actually, i just read as grumpy :rotfl:). At one point last week, I didn't even have any eggs, milk or butter (which I always have! )

Might make a wheaten loaf or some bread today - it's been a while.

Hugs to all who need or just fancy onesmiley-hug002.gifsmiley-hug008.gif
