I bought an iPod touch from O2 in Bath May last year which is playing up (battery lasts about an hour).

No problem, I thought. Take it to the local Apple store and get it fixed (how wrong you can be).

While I'd checked the serial number on the ipod and box matched I didn't think to check the till receipt, and yes, you've guessed it, it doesn't match !

Apple say is was sold in 2007 ! 2 years before I bought it and its well out of guarantee (well it would be).

Called the O2 store and bother the manager and the ast manager are off ! The supervisor says she can't get in the the 'back office system' to check anything as its down !

So anyone know where O2 retail is based or have a number ??

There is no head office for retail, their support team is located at the Bury office.

You're best point of escalation though would be via the store and asking them to escalate through their area manager. I know the retail support team wouldn't be able to help you.

Normally they'd be able to give you a proof of purchase by searching through their till if it was for a handset, not sure how it would work for this. Not sure what their "back office system" is, they'd just check on the till.

Hi Jon 01, I work in mobile retail and in all honesty I very much doubt you will get anywhere, as this far down the line, there are too many variables, not to say you HAVE but in theory there is nothing to have stopped you swapping the itouch with a mate at some point along the line or any number of other things that may lead to you not being in posession of the itouch you actually purchased,(its like the IMEI number on a mobile phone, if it doesn't match the proof of purchase and there is no evidence to show it has been swapped under warranty you can't prove you actually had it from that retailer) hope you do get it resolved though, but you will definately need to complain via store manager/assistant manager who will in turn escalate to his/her area manager. They do not have the power just to swap it or get it repaired for free, no matter what you say or do, nor will you be able to ring anyone, just complain via the proper channels, you never know!!

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
