Our Christmas tree is one I picked up from a boot sale about 4 or 5 years ago..can't remember how much I paid for it but I know it wasn't a lot as it was near the end and they just wanted rid as the box is quite bulky and they didn't want to take it back home again.
Christmas is not a time I look forward to, it is another time of year tied up in the memories of my life gone past, the happy times as a family and as a result, I don't want to put decorations up...why put up happy things when you feel anything but inside and everytime you come home and see the decorations, to have the happy times memories come flooding back and realise how !!!!!! your life is now.
I did actually put the tree up last year and decorate it in a moment of feeling happy (people were posting pictures of their trees in DT and because I realised it wasn't fair on the boys) but I couldn't wait to take it down again after Christmas...it just depressed me so much.
Christmas day, I go through the motions of looking happy for the boys whilst crying inside....it's not the same anymore. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
for me its a real tree or nowt.
I feel bad about grumbling now, at the supermarket they are raising money for a boy who has just a few weeks to live to do something he wants to do before he dies. Shame on me for feeling miffed about a tree.0 -
I've just got back in from doing a mini-shop in case we get snowed in this week. I left at 11am and my car told me it was a balmy -5.5 degrees:eek:.
As I mentioned before we live at the top of a hill, so the only way to get anywhere is down. This is ok on foot - if a bit treacherous - but impossible at times by car. Last year I discovered that lugging four bags of shopping up a hill for nearly a mile in knee deep snow is pretty hard.
Having tried online for most of the week to find a stockist of snow shovels, I finally identified that my local garden centre had some, but by the time I got there they had run out. So I have now put my name down on the snow shovel waiting list:rotfl:. There was a time the only list my name would go on was for designer handbags, how my life has changed:o. New stock of shovels is expected Friday. I can't wait. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? The kind chap from ASDA fetched my shopping to the front door last night around 8. It was extremely cold and it's over 30 miles to our nearest ASDA and was only £3 odds for delivery but I'm sure they know what they are doing0

He probably loves the long run without stopping too.0 -
There never used to be any home delivery here.... I bet 2-3 do it now.
We've got a small Asda and a small Sainsbury's these days, Asda opened last week, the whole shop's probably only 60' square.0 -

That's a really good idea. Thanks Pastures! I've got a small daypack, but you can't fit much in it, certainly not my shopping. Here's hoping they won't be on waiting lists with snow shovels!
Last year I bought myself a pair of walking poles that really help getting up and down the hill in the snow. Sadly the only place I could find that had them in stock was in Florida where there is now snow and no hills. It is ridiculous how much we grind to a halt in this country so I'm on a one woman mission to self-sufficiency. Hopefully it won't extend to window licking or eating dopester's dog. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I'd check their passports as poles usually tend to take on slightly more ambitious jobs0 -

Some of us are prepared all the time. :A
We have half a pig and 22 sheep to get through before we start on any dogs.....The chickens will be spared, so long as their egg production stays at current levels. Into double figures now!0
