    Yeah, that would be silly.

    :D

4 of our sheep have gone to slaughter, and the meat is coming tomorrow. Although they are small sheep, there will be quite a lot of it, so has anyone got any good recipies for the cheaper cuts of mutton?

Hmmm.....100 miles from there puts it in Somerset, East Devon, or maybe even Dorset. ;)

    Wrong, right, wrong, wrong.

Sorry, we normally only do pork & chicken here, and then we're not being quick enough. :o

Lamb shanks are nice though, and so is moussaka.

How about something a bit different from the guy we all love to hate:

I presume you already make mutton pies....so simple, so yummy!

edit: I have used mutton in stead of goat in West Indian/Carribean type stews....with sweet potato, carrots, coconut stuff like that...

    :)

Wouldn't mind it myself....if we could afford to buy there.

The house we should've bought, before prices went ballistic, is there. :(

Mind you, if we had, we'd be too close to MIL.

    Always a silver lining. :)

Interesting ideas, thanks LIR and Dave... we don't normally get mutton, we normally take them as lamb or sell them on as lawnmowers to conservation groups, so this is a bit of a change for us. Unfortunatly, with the cuts the conservation groups are buying as many as normal.

Wouldn't it be lovely to get away from it all to that extent. Don't suppose there's much work over there though.

No - and what there is will be NMW if you're not a skilled specialist (vet, Doctor, etc). They don't even need MoTs on cars there because there's not MoT testing station :)

There's also no post-16 education, so if you want to stay at school after the age of 16 you have to leave the island and go live in Penzance.
