f&b paint and scaffolding is probably pushing the quote up a bit.

can you drop down to good old trade paint?

Yes, probably. Paint colours is something I've been really exasperated about. we are not in a conservation area and the listed buildings people have let terrible things happen here so why favour an off/soft white F & B paint at this stage? I'm trying to sort a paint for the exterior of the other buildings too....breeze block...and its a bloody night mare. Its got to go next to red brick, and preferably not have to be so bright it needs cleaning down everytime a tractor goes through...

SS, if previous success is a guide you will be fine ;) Good luck for the results, when do you get them?
Is anyone else excited for the miners who have started to emerge? I can't help wonder how they chose the order of who would come out, and wonder at the complex emotions of those waiting their turn. But I feel quite excited for them and their families.

while we are asking about absent treliac, where is wageslave?
They've gone for sickest to healthiest.

It's not being first that's the issue .... how many people would want to be last? That'd do your head in.

I think it would be quite cool, if scary, to be last. That moment of solitude, darkness, facing demons and that everything lies in the balance. I would choose to be last, but I'd be a shaking wreck when they dragged me out.

''19 windows, 8 of which are upstairs, 2 doors...outside only....I'm hoping the quote of £7.5k is OTT....

some are in a bad state and need re-puttying. quote includes this and the (expensive ) paint and scaffolding.''

There are actually a couple more windows, but they aren't being done, as are in parts of the house which are coming down/ being worked on anyway or straight forward need replacing.
At £7.5k it'd be cheaper to have them all replaced with brand new double glazing!

I thought they went for some healthy ones first (as a means to test the system), then had some of those who are less healthy/more affected.

IIRC the last one was someone who was a ringleader, who promoted bonding, teamwork etc whilst they were down below...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I heard that too. I also heard that they all wanted to be last.

I'm almost too nervous to watch. If it was my loved one down there, I'd want him out first. I'm petrified that at some point the winch is going to fail.

I agree, in fact that is what I would do.

It may be cheaper to source the scaffolding yourself. When we had the exterior painted, we organised to scaffolding ourselves, 4 quotes ranged from £1,200 to £400!

I quite fancy the thought of being holed up down there for a few months (once the internet connection and bathing facilities were hooked up) A bit of blissful peace from the DW and D Kids...
    I think....

I doubt it would be cheaper when the new double glazing were made in wood to match the originals......it is listed, so they are uber fussy about windows...rightly.

Actually, we are now considering of buying the scaffolding  for future uses.

A lot of the scaffolding cost will be the labour involved in putting it together and dismantling.
