I'm not so sure this time LIR.....results due in mid December.

And yes I am, I think it is amazing that after all this time, they are finally getting to see their families and daylight again.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I was wondering about treliac the other day , as I have her link to the other place in my inbox...I still haven't saved it anywhere. I hope she's ok.

Great minds think alike - I too was just wondering where she was this morning.

Can only reiterate sentiments. Hello treliac - hope all well. :)

Oh, I forgot to tell you my good news (watch out, proud mum alert!)

Youngest has started going to a youth club, it's only an afterschool club held in the school grounds but it is run more like a normal youth club. I know it may not sound like much to others but this is a huge huge (like a monumental mountain with no paths to get up it) step forward for him.

And what is more, he loves it! I am so proud as I have tried to get him to do after school clubs but he was too scared to but this was his decision (ok I coaxed him a little to start with and it took him a few months to get used to the idea)...he now wants to go every afternoon after school (Mon-Thursday as it doesn't run on a Friday). It does help that a lot of the TA's who work with youngest also do a turn as the responsible adult at the club, so he has a familiar person to turn to if he needs to.

Unfortunately, middle son is not keen...his socialisation is really worrying me as he avoids it at all costs (and it has always been youngest who had the socialisation problems, not middle son), so he has only been a couple of times and only when he has really had to. He states there are very few people he knows there (apart from his brother) but will not accept that to make friends, he has to go places to find them first.

The young lad who started this group also has Aspergers and I think it is brilliant the school have supported his ideas and gone with it...it really has been the making of the lad plus I think helped sway youngest in his decision, he knew the boy (through middle son who was at primary school with him) and also knew things would be set up for children like him.

That sounds great, Sue - good for you too, as it frees up a little more of your time and is another step on the path towards greater independence. :)

I've just had a quote for painting the windows here...battling time and needs doing...£7.5 k. That can't be right can it?

I'm going to have to make more time! Painting windows is fun, I'm slightly dubious about my skill at addressing any putty issues...there are a few, but I better get less dubious quickly!

How many windows do you have, and how high are they?

Unless you live in a stately home, that sounds a ridiculous quote.

''19 windows, 8 of which are upstairs, 2 doors...outside only....I'm hoping the quote of £7.5k is OTT....

some are in a bad state and need re-puttying. quote includes this and the (expensive ) paint and scaffolding.''

There are actually a couple more windows, but they aren't being done, as are in parts of the house which are coming down/ being worked on anyway or straight forward need replacing.

f&b paint and scaffolding is probably pushing the quote up a bit.

can you drop down to good old trade paint?

Its a right state of a home, does that count :D:D

I'm thinking of whacking something over the very bad surfaces...just some paint or primer...to hold out the worst of the weather and start on them myself. Some are straight forward, not in the worst condition and need no new putty, so I guess I'll start with them to build skill rather than start with the hardest.

Need some more good weather though now! It will take me a lot longer than a professional!
