Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

Carol is getting a bit of stick out there
Did I?
Had all disappeared by the time I returned - they only do it when I'm not there, as they're far too scared otherwise.
Very disappointed at Generali - clearly not the man I took him to be.
Still, got some useful work done today. Glad I left you lot to get on with it.0 -

Eeek! Must have been very bad...
Well, it isn't the first time - the Generali bit was and that shocked me - not really bothered by the usual suspects...
I knew the subject was a hot potato, but I felt (and feel) that my side of the argument needed to be made, and although it was obviously an easy position to attack, I strongly believe in the position I stated.
Spent a relaxing half hour this evening reading the threads on mumsnet this evening - 99% holding the same view as me. Still angry, but as another poster said, 2 years is a long time, and I suspect enough disquiet from traditional core voters on this may mean that the policy is revoked anyway; OH thought it was done in order to soften us up for an outright attack on all benefits - and of course he was right, as stage 1 of that was announced this afternoon.

If you look on the moneysaving in marriages board, they had the same topic but managed to discuss it more calmly. I've looked on the mumsnet forum but I can't get the hang of the way the threads run. I guess I'm too used to here.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Partly, and as I've said elsewhere, the opposition was almost entirely from those without children, who by definition have no real understanding of the costs of bringing up children, and welcome cuts that by definition cannot afect them.
Obviously a board full of people who have families will take a different view.
I know I deliberately put myself in the firing line, but I felt v strongly on the subject and am glad I did it.0 -

No rain here yesterday.
Car misbehaved. Warning light stayed on till I reached the garage, then, of course, refused to perform. The guy now thinks I'm nuts.
Anyway, the prognosis is that it will live.....at a price, but '"There bain't nort wrong with the brakes." No. Course not.:(

Yes, can see your problem now, and the trees you're cutting, presumably to get more light in the garden. But won't that give you a rather good view of neighbour's barn? Must be more to it....;)
Still, I'm envious that you have a real pond. We can have a pond and a stream for only half of the year, then they dry up.Annoyingly there is a piped spring, which comes from our land and discharges in a neighbour's garden, and that runs all year. We might have to employ a diviner and then intercept it! Bit of a luxury atm, though it wouldn't be if they put us on a meter.
