If we are doing tariff advice I would recommend (if you are organised) a cash back redemption deal from mobiles.co.uk (part of carphone warehouse so should be financially safe) for example the DW currently gets 900 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data and a basic LG phone for minus -5 over the year once quidco and the redemption cash back are factored in.

Virgin have a blackberry for £12/month contract at the moment - obviously includes your minutes. Once contract over, you still keep the phone (unless you fancy upgrading), so probably cheaper than paying £100, plus your £8/month or whatever you quoted.
    I think....

Very true - I've been paid in the past to get a new phone once quidco or alternatives have been included.

I got a fab sim only deal from Virgin the other week. Mind you it has taken 2 more phone calls, one of an hour and a half, to sort it out.

I asked whether they could match Tesco Mobile's 500 mins and unlimited texts for £10 per month. They said yes, but have c*cked it up ever since. I hope after the last call it is now sorted. Foreign call centres ...

Another vote for the cybershots - I had the k750i and despite only being 2mp the autofocus and flash put it in a league above most camera phones. I've got an unlocked one I could probably just send it to you. Otherwise I am currently trying to decide whether to keep my N95 which is 3 years old but still does everything (5mp camera, carl zeiss lens) or change to something newer but no doubt less good but with android as there are many more applications available.
It's definitely not snaps weather today, peeing down here it is - rivers of water gushing down the street.

I've got to go out later, get some stuff and along the way there'd be lots of what I call "stock shots" I could snap.

Taking photos intended for online use is a different ballgame to taking photos. I might want just a Morrisons sign, or a long line of traffic in a queue (snap out of the window), or there are the town/village name signs. All just illustrative snaps suggesting an idea - or a location.

So the opportunity to take a snap is in every road, every neat row of apples outside a greengrocer's, every bunch of feet in a crowded street.

When you write anything in a blog, or online, it is virtually compulsory to have a snap. Several snaps are better.

I've run two digital agencies in the past, one local (15,000 images) and one international (3million + images), so I know what makes a good snap for stock use and what is just carp.

At the moment I search creative commons, which then means I need to keep note of where I got the photo from, attribute the image with a link, go back to where I got it from and let them know I used it - all time suckers. Especially if I've got 6-8 of them on a big piece, having to keep those windows open so I can go back to them, then hand-forming the html for the backlinking. All easy stuff.... but creating an obligation to finish the piece so I can complete the task of letting them know where it's been used.... and time too.

And it'd be more fun to use my own snaps :)

I have taken photos in the past, for such sites - and yes, they did sell, so I am probably not a shabby snapper :)

P.S. No, there is no end to my talents :)

    You're being done.

    Line rental for a PAYG?

Shows how old your phone is - no companies now charge line rental at all on PAYG, AFAIK.

eg Virgin cheapest contract is £8.50/month, includes 100 minutes - only 30p/month more than you pay now, but you get nice shiny new phone included (not top-of-the-range, but cameraphone, definitely).

BTW, I don't work for Virgin! Just have a Virgin mobile myself, and was researching yesterday for a friend who's just moved back to UK and has no internet access yet.
It's all part of "not knowing/not understanding". I've had my phone for 5 years, it has a number. Everybody has that number. That number is on all my CVs out there in the world.

So, if I changed the whole phone etc, then I wouldn't know about using my existing number.

I'm on TMobile through Utility Warehouse. Got a bill here:
    Line Rental: £6.81
    Calls: £0.41
    VAT £1.26
    Total: £8.48

My doctor is referring me for an endoscopy. "Just to get to the bottom of it," he said.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You can move your number to a new phone (ask for a PAC code). Otherwise, just call TMobile and ask for an upgrade and they'll send you a new phone and you keep your number.

    eg. on the website
    http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/mobile-phones/
LG viewtv snap for £10 a month, free phone
samsung tocco lite for £10 a month, free phone

It could be cheaper if you went through a cashback website and you can still get to keep your phone.

even in the back of beyond there must be something like carphone warehouse that can talk you through and let you play with the phone in the shops?
