They are easy. Do you have Bluetooth on the laptop? I just bluetooth my photos from the phones to the laptop.
Thank you so much for the website advice! I'm going to get going on it tonight.
If you need any help re the website etc, give me a holler, but once you've got up and running then the direction you personally take will mean I am unlikely to know any answers. I can look at stuff and suggest things, but the decisions you make will mean I don't have specific answers.
Every choice and decision you make is unique to you, so to compare it with travelling, while I can tell you to get a GPS and hire a car and head for the coast for your holidays, I can't then be an expert in wherever you end up.0 -
So, the 30th, end of the month. For people like me (self employed), this is the final day of reckoning this month. Whatever you've made, you've made - and today's the first time you've found out how much you made this month. . . recalls and refunds excepting, because they do happen in my game.
It's looking like a good month overall. It's probably about 20% less than an inexperienced 17 year old in London taking a random job doing nothing in particular would have earnt. But I earnt it through skill, experience, thought and hours of hard work. I'm on a mission, for the next 6 months, to bring one of my income streams up from about £75/month to more like £500.... this was the first month and that bit's looking like £90. It's all a long-term game. I make pennies because I write stuff and people come and see stuff and they click on stuff .... and I get pennies. But, look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves they say!
Overall, this recession's seen a drop in advertising revenue - which might be caused by people spending less on advertising, or it might be caused by more people 'just like me' spreading the income thinner. I'm certainly getting more pageviews this month on my main website (that generates me about 80-90% of my regular income) than I did last year and the year before, but the income per click is down mostly.... I figure when ad revenues go up, I'll see the income go up too if I can maintain those pageviews.
The hardest thing I find is finding good free images to accompany anything I write. It's a bummer... I wish free photos would just magically drop into the slots, but I have to spend ages sometimes searching for "the right" image, or "the best I could find before I completely gave up"0 -

Personally I would buy a cheap digital camera rather than a phone - because any phone camera is a compromise. Buy a USB SD (assuming your camera has an SD card) card reader - thats a USB on one end and a card slot on the other end. Take pics. Pop SD card out of camera and into slot. Windows says "ooh whats this" and shows you your pictures. Save them.

I've got a camera (if I could only find it....).... but the card reader'd be handy
I've got a PC and a laptop. Laptop has a card reader, PC doesn't. Meaning, at the moment, if I do take photos then I'd need to get the laptop out to offload the pics.
In a perfect world I'd like to: point, click, press a button to upload the image to the internet, where I could grab it later.
I was chatting to somebody the other night, he was in an indian restaurant, he took a snap of his meal, and it was magically online for me to view. As he was chatting to me online, I guess he had some kind of a posh internet-enabled phone that let him do more than speak to people though.
I'm really out of the technology loop because it's always been out of my budget. I'm seeing this next move as an 'investment' in my online stuff - not a nice toy for me to play with.
I need to be moving a bit more towards having the internet available easily in my pocket.... but at the moment I don't know how all the bits fit together.0 -
I used to always have the camera in my bag....result, it got bashed a bout too much.
My hand me down tv has lost its colour. Its kind cool being black and white and grainy. TBH I hate this tv, its HUGE. I think its about 12-15 years old...so I guess thats considered old. To me its my parents old ''New TV''. But thinking about it that was two tvs ago. I don't get the urge for new tvs.
Oooh, the colours back a bit....0 -

Take your point about separate bits of kit. My point is about quality and compromise. But yes, those new phones are pretty fancy. Just seems a slight shame that someone can't just enjoy a good Indian meal without having to web chat and photograph it.
Anyway I have recently realised I've been wasting good potential content on here.0 -
Sad to see the passing of one of my favourite actors. I loved Tony Curtis films growing up. As I got older I appreciated that he wasn't just a great actor with amazing comedic timing, but also very good looking in his day.
They don't make the films they used to and they certainly don't make the stars they used to. RIP Tony Curtis. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Is that the internet in your pocket or are you just pleased...

So, there he was, alone on a Saturday night - he'd ditched his mates and was headed back to the lodge they were staying at - and he went into the indian, alone. And he was 'chatting' online to me from there.
It's awkward eating alone, but he was chatting to me.
If I'd had the weekend free I'd have gone out and joined him.0 -

So long as I can make out most of a picture I'm happy. I do hate it when people fiddle, fiddle, fiddle to get some fictitious perfect picture.0
