dorset is lovely
i used to dream of retiring there but of course yu dont think of the fact that your children will be miles away in Kent..........
Then there was pressure put on me to move, so I did. Big mistake. Far too "cut off" here for job opportunities.
But where does one go this time...?0 -
I think I'm an orphan.... parents have gone out for a bit of a drive.... and it's now pitch dark out there. Dad can't really see in daylight.
I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof here rushing back/forth from front to back, wondering where they are and if they're coming back.0 -

I'm sure they'll be fine.0 -

I am on a mission now....................
Here is one from TescoDirect... http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-0611.aspx
You can look online to see if they have one in a store near you too, and reserve it before dashing in to collect.0 -

I've been having a bit of a down time just recently and I think youngest picked up on it....today he got his older brother to take him to a charity shop while we were up town and I was NOT allowed to go in with him.
Ten minutes later he comes out and hands me what looked like a piece of tissue and told me to open it up, which I duly did.
He had bought me a ring, not an expensive ring (£2.75) with his pocket money and although it is a cheap pretend diamond and sterling silver, it is the most precious thing I own.
I stood and blubbed in the high street......I am just so lucky to have my boys.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

What lovely young men your boys are growing into. It's a testimony to all your amazing input into their lives.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
How's the book I asked for going, lir?
Reading your posts I'm reminded of why I want to read it - you have a special 'voice', come at life from a slightly different, wonderfully calm angle compared to the rest of us - and I know your book could bring joy to many.
Sorry if that sounds odd - just you have a touch of the inspired genius about you - reminds me of Gerald Durrell, The Provincial Lady etc.
Plus I think your life is more unusual than you imagine - though presumably it seems quite ordinary to you.
Just wanted to touch base...I am here and reading you all but no headspace to write and respond....but it's all going into my head for another day.:D
Going through a lot of change ourselves at the mo and another big move imminent (work space not home) as we need to keep ahead so we don't get chewed up and spat out by the corporate machine....no sign of it yet but I feel like one of LIR's gundogs when it hears a rustle in the hedgerow.
Glad to hear the new farm is going well too
Can you drive CarolT? Could be worth getting a runabout as you have moved as the time saved will more than pay for itself in productivity lost through the long bus rides etc.
One of the reasons we are leaving E1 is the lost commuting time......it's driving me nuts....never bothered me before but it does now. I want those hours back so I can use them productively.
The other reason is space...lots of cheap space (2700 sq ft)with direct river view.
And I don't have time to natter away on here either and I miss it.0
