DH is definite a husband ;) Yes, I'm fine, and he's coping, as his his cousin. Funeral won't be this week I don' think. I guess now we just are there for cousin and DH has to decide what he wants to do next (his aunt asked him to move in with her for weekdays after she was widowed last year so he left his other place.)

Sorry I hadn't realised that it was this aunt you were talking about - the one that you and he were so close to. It must be shock and leave a big hole in his life and yours too. Glad you are both coping, and hope the way forward for FIR becomes clear in good time.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Oh yeah - one thing that did really turn things around; as DW has a 'thing' about absolutely everything having to be ironed and each outfit only being worn once before washing - we bought a steam generator iron which probably reduces ironing time by more than half.

No, I most defintely don't hve a 'thing' for ironing or washing. ;)

You lucky man, however messy your house is, you must always look ironed. Whereas we nearly always look scrunched. :D Well, except for DD1, who has a mysterious natural style, which means she could wear a bin bag or an artfully tied bath towel and still look like she'd just stepped off a catwalk. Weird genetic throwback, I think. :p

So an ordinary iron will probably do me. :o

Sorry, to interrupt, but hard evening. Too much to do, not achieving anything noticeable, house in a state. :(

Know I don't have lir's/davesnave's type hassles re housemoving like worrying about sewers and fuel and sort of basic things like that, no poo to shovel and no animals to feed...can't imagine how they cope with all that.

Still, just having one of those days where normal life gets a bit on top of you.

More brilliant organisational tips needed, please. Can't face the washing up mountain, fed up of mounrains of washing...keep doing it and yet there's more, yet the weather's too miserable to hang it outside...

I know this is no great shakes, not up there with major economic disasters, or even small personal problems; it's just the very small stuff that makes up life.

But it's all a bit tiring tonight.

Anyone feeling inspiring? Or just had a better (or worse?) day they'd like to share?

I have a lot of days like that, nothing earth shattering happening but all the little things adding up to make you feel uber stressed and hassled.

For me, I generally just take one job at a time and try not to think about the other 10 million things that need doing so that I don't get over whelmed. I'm not saying it works all the time as it doesn't....I still get that over whelmed feeling even when using that process sometimes.

My house isn't perfect, between the boys appointments, my appointments, school runs and my own failing health/mobility, things don't always get done and the jobs seem huge but little jobs like washing down the work top when I make a cup of tea or putting a load of washing on when I go out to the kitchen to make a meal, soon adds up to bigger jobs over the course of the day.

For washing up, I can no longer stand to do a whole sinkfull, so again whilst making a cup of tea, I will wash up a few plates and cutlery and then a few more every time I have to go out to the kitchen. For hoovering, I will do one room at a time rather than the whole bottom floor...some days, just the one room is all I can do.

I know how it is extremely frustrating to spend so much time doing something, only for it to look like a hoover hasn't touched the floor for weeks within 5 minutes of the children coming home, or to slog away getting the washing done and then a whole new lot has been created within a very short space of time...it gets you down.

Sometimes, if stress is really getting to me....I shut the door on it and take the kids and myself down to my parents for a nice soothing cup of tea :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Apologies lir, I don't know how I missed your mentioning this. I skim a lot as doing other stuff while on here, so sorry if I miss bits and come across as uncaring. I hope all goes well with the funeral.

My house is untidy too. I have an untidy house and an untidy mind. I'm very envious of those with minds like filing cabinets and houses like showhomes.

I have the untidy house but a mind like a filing cabinet! I know it's not supposed to work like that....but it does for me.

LIR- so sorry to hear about your husbands aunt, my condolences.

The second I get indoors I take off my outdoor clothes and slip into leggings/T shirt. Roughly speaking, that's about 2 sets of leggings and 2 big T shirts/month that want washing. As for outdoor clothes, depends what they are. "good stuff", i.e. work/best is worn about 2x. Things like nice hoodies are worn about 4x. Jeans can go a whole week.

But I don't go anywhere or do anything mucky or sweaty ever.

Overall, if I work full time in smart/clean clothes, I can get away with washing one batch of clothes a fortnight and one batch of bed linens/towels a fortnight. So that's one load a week.

    :)

Oh - and ironing ... forget it. Haven't owned an iron for 3 years, only used to use one once a year before that. I am absolutely rubbish at ironing. Can't do it, once ironed it all looks like it's not been ironed... then the minute you get in the car to drive anywhere it all creases up again. Most of my clothes do not need ironing, or I don't buy them.

I think things should be ironed when you need them mostly, not when you put them away - or they'll need ironing again to wear them.

I do have to get an iron at some point though, I need to find out about those "wands".

I have an iron...but it is used once in a blue moon.

The boys shirts are taken straight from the tumble dryer (with its lovely crease free setting) onto them...no creases and no ironing needed at all.

I live in jeans and t shirts in the summer and jeans and jumpers in the winter, neither of which need ironing...special occasions are few and far between so no fiddly blouses to iron for me.

My mum is a slave to her ironing board, she irons everything...and I mean everything, including knickers and towells!

Won more muneh! $200 now this month for "noise". Winnings are tax free, which is a lovely feeling.

Also, been chatting to somebody who has asked me to look at optimising their site for them, so I'll look at that but it's not straight forward and they're unclear what they want to achieve.... optimising websites, SEO writing, it's what I do. That's really how I make money at the other stuff, by optimising - in a loose/lazy kind of way. I enjoy the writing and most optimisation goes out the window, I just get into top google rankings pretty easily, so when the money flows in it's nice as it lets me continue writing noise.

Where did this year go? It's feeling a bit nippy in the evenings now!

I've never had a tumble drier, it usually takes me 3-4 days to get washing dried on an airer, hence another reason to minimise washing.

Knickers, towels, bras, sheets, duvet covers .... jeans .... jumpers .. never need ironing. What's WRONG with people???

Just flying in and out before work but please can you name or PM me the name of said tonic. i THINK i know the one you mean. Stressful times are upon me (moving out of marital home - eek) and i always go nutty this time of year anyway. Hate the cold weather and more or less wish I could hibernate.

Right, off to look at the Lakeland clothes dryers - no tumble drier in new house and cant afford to run one anyway now.....
Actually, another thought Carolt...think about eating extra specially nutritiously and warmingly now the weather has changed, and I've just finished a week of the tonic designed for mainly ''older people'' when they have a cold or flu; it really helps pick one up. Cold foods on dreary cold days is ..well, not... invigorating or sustaining. I'd suggest that some nights, regardless of mess, a good bath and nights sleep is number one for efficiency and sanity.

We would be buried under a mound of bed clothes and normal clothes without one because of the boys bowel disorders, especially in the winter where drying without a tumble dryer and at the amounts needed is more difficult.

Plus school uniform....youngest likes to drag his through the mud and what ever else there is around when he is stressed (he generally throws it around regardless of it there is dirt or not) and both never seem to be able to hit their mouths with their food!

Eldest is at the stage of wearing what seems like a whole wardrobe of clothes in one day.....I swear he is turning into his father.
