- Pantry, not a cupboard. Proper big pantry with continuous shelves because cupboards limit what can go in them, so stuff ends up everywhere. Everything will go in here.
That's my idea of heaven Pastures. I have learned though from my master bedroom that floor to ceiling wardrobes are only half the ideal though, they are no good unless the innards are planned properly. I have three double wardrobes, still not enough space. My plan is to rip the innards out, fit double hanging rails in two (high ceilings and I never wear dresses, neither does DH) and then have shelving in the middle one and a shelf with a telly on. I don't like tellys on show in bedrooms if I can help it.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Plus all the home-moving admin - changing address on a million different forms for 5 people.
I used this website when moving, kept me sane (just)...

Mentally I'm exhausted from technical reading. If anyone knows of something (legal) to improve energy levels, memory or cognitive function - I'm all ears.
Good diet or failing that good neutraceuticals! Feragrad C is the one I can tell if I'm not taking (I take it for a week a month or so every month and do a longer course as needed) or the old peoples tonic. The sugar content of those induces a rush, whether or not the vits/mins impact!
When DH was doing exams I fed him lots of fish and lots of flapjacks. I don't know if the brain building fish or energy sustaining oats really helped, but they made me feel better for him:o

Sadly, can't really focus on that - wish I could...
DS is being 'settled gently' into reception by doing part days. What this has meant in practice is that I've had to pick him up uber early for the last few weeks - as we now live far away, it's 2 buses and about 1.5 hrs by bus each way. So 3 hours out of the middle of my day.
Plus I have a load of papers to write and imminent Chief Examiner meetings...but too many little things going on to allow me to focus on the writing.
Plus all the home-moving admin - changing address on a million different forms for 5 people.
Plus gradually sorting out/getting rid of stuff from moving.
Plus trying to act as a vr/maths tutor, as per a few pages back.
Plus inordinate number of school events currently at evenings/weekends...just seems non-stop.
But a cat chasing its tail is exactly what I feel like.
Have lists, but terrifyingly long, so overwhelming. Even lir's 10 things sounds more than I can handle. Too little sleep, don't know which to do first...too many balls I'm scared of dropping...
Eurgh.
Time to calm down. A nice herbal tea, I think... (goes off to make one)

The fact is that people just fill up the space they have then say they haven't enough room.
Sometimes you've got to be ruthless and blitz it.

If we all tackle one of your issues....
Been there, got the t-shirt.
You either need to rota with someone who lives near you. So you each go alternate days.
Or find someone near the school or the half way point who can pick up on some days and you pick your little one up from them later on.
It may be that they can't be in school all day initially, but they could easily go to a friend after school and vice versa. That way you get some days totally free.
When he is allowed to stay whole days be quite firm about him going straight back on the coach with his siblings. I know some schools can try to insist that little ones not use the coach for a few more weeks.Time to calm down. A nice herbal tea, I think... (goes off to make one)

Thank you all - viva's site looked v good.
In fact, this period is nearly over - this is the last week, and then little one will be on the school bus every day (except Fridays till half term, but hey, one day I can cope with). That said, I'm not exactly jumping with glee, as I know I will miss ds massively once I only see him at the end of a long, tiring school day. He's such a poppet.
There are 2 mums who live quite close whom I could have ased for lifts, but am very reluctant to, because I know I can't reciprocate - if they offered, I'd gladly take them up on it! But don't feel I can impose like that. And can't reciprocate having kids here - jorney is too far, and house in too much of a state. As where we started.
So I try to use my enforced trips to do ome useful shopping, etc. Handy for bits I've forgotten or run out of. And take work to do on the bus.
Oh, and cherry and cinammon is DD1's favourite flavour.0 -
When we moved it was one of the worst things I ever did and we are far from 'right' despite it happening in March/April
I pay mail forwarding and probably will do for a couple of years so I can sort change of addresses out gradually.
We have only emptied the boxes we needed in the first few weeks, everything else is in the garage, the labeling now seems inadequate so we often buy things now rather than look for them.
When we first moved it seemed impossible to get the place together but we had scheduled my daughters birthday party and wanted the place to be presentable so in the end I took a couple of days of work to get it done. Our youngest seems like a full time job on his own. The other two are now both full days at school - losing the half days of last year as freed up a lot of time for my DW.
I am hoping that once we have extended we will have enough space for everything - we will have a double garage and better loft access. While the extension is being done the current garage will be demolished - I am trying to work out if storage or a garden shed will be cheaper for temporary store of the garage and loft stuff.
We had our old house extended and lived in terrible conditions especially when the first builder dismantled the kitchen then walked off the job just before one Christmas so this time the work will be in 2 phases, the outside part first.
Sorry, bit of a ramble but I guess the conclusion is that you do get though it and that if anything can be put on a to do list rather than just done then it means it is not urgent...I think....0 -
Oh yeah - one thing that did really turn things around; as DW has a 'thing' about absolutely everything having to be ironed and each outfit only being worn once before washing - we bought a steam generator iron which probably reduces ironing time by more than half.I think....0
