    Gen,

I notice that you've been lurking hereabouts today. If you wouldn't mind, could you give me a quick couple of paras as to what you think will happen next in Australia following the elections? I've been trying to find a news story that sums up the two sides and what will happen next (which would make the basis for an interesting thread) but have failed dismally.

To add to the list: Treliac is definitely female and I'm pretty sure that lynzpower, sjay and wymondham are too.

I didn't think about what gender clutton was, I just though they worked for cluttons :o.

I'm pretty sure that bendix, amcluescent, chucky, dopester, GrahamDevon, IM, purch and thrug are male.

ETA: sorry silvercar, I missed you off my list. I have you down as female too.

The one that confuses me is The_White_Horse, who may be a gelding. Now that we also have white horse I find it quite amusing as their views seem quite diametrically opposed.

:o Can't believe I missed out Treliac, sjay and lynzpower, all of whom I regard as female, or chucky and dopester, who I know are male. Please forgive me all of you. I mentioned Graham_Devon but abbreviated him to GD. I think I began by thinking silvercar was male, but discovered otherwise when she said something that made it clear.

I didn't know about wymondham or bendix, and while I think I've always thought of amcluesent and The_White_Horse as male, I didn't have any reason for either of them. I don't feel I "know" purch or thrug well enough to know what they are. :o

I should also have added Generali (male) and ceridwen (female).

Thereby destroying anonymity. I always worry that someone I know may also be posting on here and some things I post do reveal more about my finances than I would necessarily tell all my friends. Plus a lack of posting could indicate an empty house (though we had access to the net on holiday this year, so I did pop on occasionally).

When I first came on here I used to be very careful not to say anything that could identify me. But over the last 8 months I've wanted to explain about late-nearly-ex, because my finances and house plans don't make any sense otherwise. So I'm now resigned to the fact that anybody who already knows me personally IRL would be able to recognise me pretty easily on here. However, I never put anything on here that would tell people who only know me online how to find me IRL.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

OK. Being nice, we won't go there. ;)

I have been in an arena or two, mind. Mainly Wembley, but Haringey (nudge, nudge) and St Albans too.

It was all a long time ago.....

I would imagine when the yoof of today imagine an arena tour following success on the X Factor that its Wembley that they think of rather than St Albans :rotfl:.

Why then did you choose the name of a missile that often didn't shoot straight?

Haringey and St Albans Arenas? Sounds good - actually, was going to say they don't exist, but then remembered St Albans does have an arena, so you're not making it up. What's Haringey? Ally Pally?

Re the gender debate, I never knew wymondham was female - thought they were a bloke. silvercar foxed me initially too. Usually the writing style is a dead giveaway eg Hamish or pickledpink, but then thinking about it, their names are a bit of a clue too. ;)

Dunno how Malcolm is so certain about me, either... Secret stalker?

Or more likely my innate girliness reflected in my style too. Plus name, obviously.

If I could start afresh, though, I'd call myself something dull and male, like Richard, say - just seems less hassle.

Yes, I want to know that too.

I tend to assume that people calling themselves things like Malcolm and michaels are 'he', and people calling themselves things like Ellie2758 are 'she', but you never know. I replied to a poster on the house board called iolanthe07 and said 'she' because Iolanthe is a female name, but it turns out he's a bloke. Likewise, with a screen name like Lydia (and a sig that refers to me as 'she'), I was a little surprised when Fourcandles told me I sounded like a "nice chap", but I appreciated the sentiment regardless.

As for leveller, sss555s, ISTL etc, I never have any idea.

I can confirm I'm a guy, although at Christmas I was told "I was in touch with my feminine side".............................which is nice....:D

The debate about me never ended LydiaJ, inasmuchas I've never confirmed either way. I am sure, as Lloyd Grossman would say, "the clues are there..."

It started on a couple of threads at around the same time. Someone posted something inferring a gender, & I posted back that they'd made an assumption. I left it open. Another thread then descended into a OMG what is lemonjelly? debate (might have been NPT 1, or wageslaves pixels thread) where some posted they thought I was male, & others completely disagreed.

I just sat & giggled, hitting refresh every now & again.

Hm, everyone is reading intellectual books. At the moment I am reading war and peace*. And, well, there is another book but I won't mention it. I like trashy books, but only if they have a happy ending, and three or more grammatical errors per chapter.

    * I started it in 2002, and may get to page 10 any decade now.

Don't be embarrassed tomterm8, we are all friends here!:)

I wouldn't say I read all intellectual books. I do like taking time to read lighter entertaining stuff. Like music, and food, depends on what mood I'm in!:)

So come on then, what is it?

I've a horrible feeling it's something like the da vinci code...:(
