The thing is....
a lot of people who have gallows humour have experienced suicide, or indeed othe rtradgedies
In fact, I remaain elated when I am reminded many haven't. I think its a poor joke, no more no less. Iwas keen no one think it genuine, but....that now dealt with I think to try and guess the extend and proportion of other people's misery is a fool's errand and without good aim.
I hope everyone upset is able to recover sufficiently to divert attention back to where they need it in their life tomorrow and sleep well tonight.0 -
wageslave - go and read lir's latest post on the list thread on the other siteDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
OK thanks.
One of my jobs (not the teaching one) is with people who are in crisis of one kind or another, or who are trying to process the fall-out in their present lives of crises that happened a long time ago. There are two things we are taught we must never say to them. One is "I know how you feel" and the other is to imply that some completely different problem is in some way equivalent to what they are going through. Both these things are very easy to say, and lots of people say them, but the people in crisis always find them unhelpful. They generally feel misunderstood, unheard, and patronised, even though the person didn't mean anything like that and was genuinely trying to be supportive and understanding.

northenden, well done. Apologising was a good thing and I shall unpack my 15 stone brawlers punishment kit and stay here now.0

The OP didn't mention hanging. I would interested to know how the subject of hanging came up.
You are making assumptions and trying your hand at prophecy.
Neither are your forte.
We take your point and have apologised.
But grovel honey?
Not today.............
What are you on about? Read my post again, where have I mentioned hanging??? I think that you have quoted the wrong post. And I wasn't looking for anyone to grovel, maybe you think you should deep down since you have mentioned it.
This thread should be re-named, not a lot of nice people are on here, so I shall make a sharp exit at this point.:cool:0 -

Oh dear, now I can't stop laughing.
That Northy is such a bad influence.
I just go about my business doing good works and spreading love and kindness when he isn't aboutRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
Please don't take this the wrong way but I have spent the last 5+ years in mental health and I just don't think the right thing to do on this thread is to jump on someones post which is very probably posted in reactional anger rather than direct grief and take more from it than is necessary, If said person was in session I might well react differently, but AFAIS it will do no harm to bypass the links made in the post as they actually are of no specific direct relevance to the provoking posts. Although not to suggest such responses are not to be expected in the circumstances I wonder whether the approval of OTT is helpful- not to say of course that dismissal is appropriate either

Good point. Thanks. The best outcome now is for the bankruptcy board people to accept the apology that Northenden has posted on his thread over there, and everyone to drop it as lir suggests. Then they can get on with supporting each other, and we can get on with debating house prices (or not, on this thread).Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Lynne, there are lots of nice people here. Sadly, being nice, and he is nice, he did a very good thing this week ...I happen to know....doesn't make us perfect.
He apologised.0 -

The original poster from your board mentioned hanging, I made the assumption you had read their post.
Which was careless of me.
I think an exit might be appropriate. You must have lives to save and other important stuff to do.
Don't let me keep you;)Retail is the only therapy that works0 -

whats the chucky thread?
why are serious people with no sense of humour invading our board?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
