It was an idea to make sure I did something with holiday time this year fc123. For some time, when I've had days off, I've done v little. I didn't want that to perpetuate, so me & some friends made lists of places where we'd like to visit. The idea was completely open - & had to include a mixture of places we remembered as being nice, and also places we'd never been.

We had some great ideas - & some will be carried over to next year.:)

Newquay (& surrounding areas) was somewhere we went as a family about 10+ years ago. Though I always liked it, my parents liked it too much, & we went there repeatedly for about 5 years. It became passe, or even a little boring, even though the beaches were good, & the sea. That said, I am thinking of going back there perhaps next year.

I'm going to visit Hastings & Battle in a couple of weeks. A couple of us were toying with the idea of either Bath or York (for the roman/viking stuff). Closer to home a trip to shrewsbury is planned (though there are friends there too). Plus a couple of local trips - in birmingham there is a show of ancient egyptian artefacts, and a dinosaur exhibition on at the museum.

Places earmarked for next year include Bletchley Park, Portmerion and Hadrians wall (hello wageslave!) The london trip is now taking place in October - as i've never done london except for a day, but it has always been for work purposes...

So far I've been to visit Longleat (the house is better than the safari park, which disappointed a little if I'm honest). Caenarfon, Beaumaris & Rhyl (a combination of which caused me to start the "traditional summer holiday" thread), Torquay & Paignton (both of which were lovely, as was the weather when I went.

Next weekend was going to be one of Bath or York, but there appears to be a little hesitation as to which one, or whether there is a better option out there. Portmeirion may take its place...

Hm... apparently, someone has devised a method to read the chips in american passports at 70 metres, so they can just collect your name, address, and etc without even having to nick your wallet. It's the same technology they are planning to put into identity cards/ biometric passports in the UK.

    Maybe a bad idea?

Bath have a Winter German Market or something ... so if you can't decide between two places, go to the other one now ... and try Bath when there's something a bit different to look at.

Being a luddite, I doubt I'd be able to post up piccies after! I've always been intruiged by the idea of the ancient roman town there though.

Birmingham tends to have (the same) german christmas market each year.

I had a bit of a quandry today, speedway was rained off last night and restage was today....at 2pm, F1 of course, was also on.

So it was watch F1 whilst cooking dinner and then a mad dash over to the bar for 2.30 for them to put the speedway on (Sky sports, don't have that in the caravan) and receive texts from a friend for the heats I missed. Got to the bar, F1 on one telly and speedway on another and I was rushing between the two until F1 finished.

Missed Vettel's strop though...and GB came 4th in the World Cup which may sound bad but to be honest, we were not expected to get to the final in the first place....and we beat Australia who didn't even get to the final (we knocked them out on Monday night after they did an early celebration of getting through, they then missed out in the race off on Thursday night)

Oh, and I am a watcher, my cars have been sensible family ones designed to fit 3 child seats in rather than performance...my current car is put your foot down and wait for a response.

Hopefully off to Pleasurewood Hills tomorrow if the weather is ok....which it doesn't look like it is going to be!

It has been an incredibly relaxing break, eldest has his friend with him and it has given me an extra pair of hands with the boys which has made all the difference. Mind you, eldest now has double trouble, she is so like me, she could be my daughter!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Ah, I've not seen one yet. I bet Bath would be my closest, at nearly 200 miles.

    Everything's 200 miles from me :)
