Seriously, I never realised how 'alternative' the rural economy is, till I came here.
Erm, I think it is not entirely just a thing of the countryside... cash is king, wherever you are:D“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Much more pronounced though. I knew far more people when I lived in the city, but few of them could find me decent tradespeople at sensible prices.
Of course there was always 'Bill's mate up the road' and he usually did work to the standard of, er, Bill's mate up the road! :rotfl:0 -
Shhhhhhhh Dave or everyone will want to escape to the country
@viva
Think i'll watch the build up, first lap and the press conference and not so much in between today.
I'm not so keen when there's no overtaking and you can always catch the [STRIKE]pit stops[/STRIKE] best bits online.

I'm in two minds about the Hungaroring. I think its good that the former Eastern Bloc states have their own GP, it encourages viewing and is good for drivers like Kubica and Petrov, and hopefully others that will follow in their footsteps. But its generally boring. However I do dislike Valencia more and that's the venue I'd scrub in favour of somewhere else. My favourite circuits are Spa, Monza, Suzuka, Melbourne, Monaco and Montreal. I'm also quite partial to Sao Paolo because I like the challenges of the left-handers. I preferred the old "sprint through the forest" Hockenheim so didn't like last week's track as much.
One thing I will say though is BBC's pre-race coverage is peerless. The things they get away with are amazing. Whether it is walking straight through the Mercedes garage as the cars are being prepared or grabbing Stefano Domenicali off his phone call back to base last week. I also love the way Eddie Jordan sticks up for the fans. The only one I'm not too big a fan of is Ledyard. I'd want to pair MB up with someone else, maybe Coulthard, Blundell or another driver (but not Damon - too wet).Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Haven't a clue what it's all about viva, but I'm sure it's worth thanking.0

Sorry tre, have stepped outside the pink zone to be a petrolhead again. Normal service will be resumed this evening once I've got my GP fix.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Good, viva, in the meantime enjoy the GP.
I'm off to a neighbour's 'garden party' in a couple of hours..... so who knows whether I'll be in a fit state by evening. I do, of course, intend to retain my dignity and stay reasonably sober.

Have fun tre, I sense your afternoon will be more genteel than mine, which will involve swearing at the telly,Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? What car do you own vivatifosi? Are you more a petrolhead watcher than a racer?0 -

Spa is my fav and the BBC make the qualis and pre race better than it's ever been.
I agree that they should ditch the circuits that make overtaking virtually impossible in a F1 car0
