Yeah but, no but........
I am only too well aware what class I would have been in:rotfl:Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Well, now that I've made another [STRIKE]two[/STRIKE] three utterly pointless posts, I think I'll go and water the plants, do some exercise and have a shower. It's a little quiet here tonight, isn't it?0

I am being force fed latin for the law degree! Never done it before (we didn't have that sort of thing in our local primary or comprehensive), so it is fun......erm, well ish.
We were taught French though from the age of 6 ....the only school in town to do so then and now.
I've had a bit of an eek day, had an MRI on my back and went into panic stations during it. Not because of the closed in space but because I had convinced myself that I would get stuck in there for some reason and they would have to take it to pieces to get me out. On top of that, the way they made me position myself brought on the sharp sciatic pain down one leg and made the other leg twitch! I was brave though and didn't press the button, mainly because I knew if I did that, then it would take twice as long and give me twice as much panic! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I love this thread. Its like randomly opening the Encyclopaedia Britannica and not knowing what subject its going to open up. Sometimes its chickens, sometimes musical genres, sometimes plants, tonight Latin. Wonderful!
How is the neck lir? Feeling any better yet? Hope you're back to normal soon. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I'm over on another thread, supposedly updating folk on our progress here on the ranch, but you can see what I've been up to if you like:
I'm too tired to post this stuff there now.0 -
lir when are you going offline? Do we have a date? I ask, as we had a discussion a short while ago & you advised me to PM you as the time arrived. I'm anticipating when the time arrives you'll be offline, so I'm wondering when to PM you.
(Sounds all a bit mysterious doesn't it?)
Hope your neck is much improved! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
There was me thinking that the Roman Empire was largely a slave camp, run by hard nosed retired military engineers. It was eventually let down by its "chattering political classes", who could not even collect enough taxes to balance its bloated budget. Inflation set in as money was printed to finance the "bread and circuses" social security system and local authorities could not make the payroll. The Empire fell apart.
It is all in the book "The decline and fall of the British Union" ?0 -
That's a beautiful sight Dn.... one of the loveliest the English countryside has to offer in my opinion.0 -

A few miles north of here, they still do the traditional stooks with the corn. I will try to grab a photo of that later in the year.
I was so glad to see our hay being baled, I wasn't too bothered what shape the bales were. Somewhere in there, there's a lot of pork chops for us!:);)0 -

What are they playing at? Perhaps it is really a crop of straw for thatching - there must be lots of listed buildings and conservation areas in Devon, where reed is not allowed? I've learned some more facts this week; there are now 180,000 back yard chicken "farmers", an increase of 30,000 in the last two years.
Pigs, rather than sheep, are now the must have option for small holders - price is up and they are the fastest of our 4 legged friends to make it to the freezer.
Talking of pigs - porcelain is taken from the Italian for little pig. When Marco Polo got back from his trip to China; he needed to explain their new sort of pottery, with a glass like glaze.
The nearest he could get to describing it was to say "It has got a finish like a cowrie shell" - In Italian the cowrie was "the little pig shell".0
