You've all put me to shame. I have now planted one mint and one parsley plant. (Bought reduced at Tesco from the salad section rather than the gardening section where they were 3 times the price.) Hopefully an improvement on last year when we grew chilli plants from seed and total yield was 3 chillis.

    (just a bit of fun!)

    http://worldfantasyfootball.skysports.com/

I have just set up a SkySports World Cup Fantasy Football League if you are interested.

Its FREE to enter with Sky,

If you played in the Sky Premiership Fantasy Football competition last season, you can still use the same email & password to log in and pick your team.

You can pick no more than 2 players from 1 Country.
This increases as the tournament goes on.

30 transfers available throughout the tournament.
(15 allowed in the Group Stages, and 15 again in the Knockout Stages)
So pretty much 1 transfer per day on average.

You can pick a team now, and you will have UNLIMITED transfers up until the tournament starts if you do need to tweak your team before Friday.

Come on, make games like Slovakia v Paraguay interesting, get into the World Cup spirit !!
    Good Luck

Once you have picked your team, you will then need the League Pin: 46695
(give me a shout if you need any help joining the League)
Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
    (MSE Andrea says ok!)

Chillis need a long season, so you need to start in February.

    Mine have started flowering. :D

The best chillies for the 'occasional gardener' are the variegated ones. Not strong growing, but attractive & small enough to bring into the house in early winter and even as an unusual Christmas decoration.
This type will overwinter too, meaning a faster start, though probably more bugs, in the following year.

I'm growing more peppers than I need this year, as a trial, and because I'll probably save quite a bit of seed. Sold half a dozen at the weekend, though! :)

Have had a new idea for days out for lj. It's one of my favourites and I can't believe I missed it off.

Bletchley Park: lovely grounds, brilliant history, shown round by people who are passionate about what it stood for. Just don't do it on a cold day, some of the outbuildings where the codebreakers worked are freezing.

It makes maths seem really hot. I think all school kids should go there. Except I went there for the first time in my 30s, so may not be the best judge :o.

The fact that everyone except me has something flowering is kinda inhibiting my theory!:D
I am not a gardener, but there's a small garden here. From memory, I think we've already had:
    - 1000 daffodils
    - 500 bluebells
    - 50 white bluebells
    - several different red roses
    - huge, giant poppies
    - rhubarb
    - mint

Loads of other things too, but I don't know what any of those are. I've been picking flowers from the garden for vases for months.

Phew ... that gets me out of saying "I hate footy, no idea who's who or what's going on or when" as there's no Sky here :)

    Heck, freeview's fairly recent!

...or those ball things that you roll down a hill? ...
    Zorbing.

I had some people over about 6-7 years ago and they pre-booked that locally (where local = 20 miles). No payment up front, just booked. We turned up at the field and waited. There was another car there. Nothing was happening, so we all got out of the car, as you do, shifting awkwardly from foot to foot, eyeing up the field gate... and chatting awkwardly. They'd booked through an Experience Day website, and paid. The bloke never did turn up. Their booking had been before ours, we gave up after an hour and went down the pub.

It was horrendously expensive. Something truly stupid like £50 to roll down a short hill twice before f00king off as that was it (a hill in a field, without even a portaloo).

For extra money, £10 I think, (I kid ye not), they chuck a bucket of water in it and it's called "The Washing Machine" experience.

    Nutters.

We still own 180m2 of Bath, if anyone wants to camp there within a mile of the city centre. There's water, but no loo, and the parking is naff. It's within the Conservation area, though.:)

Perhaps we should follow LJ's Scottish Laird example and sell off the plot in m2 pieces. I'd consider £100 a square metre a pretty good price. With the registered title, a buyer could call themselves a Knight of the Order of Aquae Sulis, or something.
*adds Bath to the list of places I can live/work*
I can get a toilet tent to park beside my car.
