It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

LJ is a ''difficult eater'' before any one suggests dim sum.;)

Hello LJ honey:A
I am afraid it would take more than the purchase of a few acres to turn me into anyones idea of a lady.
I love away days. You get to come home to your own bed knackered but happy and the lawn hasn't grown up to your ankles in your absence.
You'll always be a lady to me wageslave!:)
Especially in your boots! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

LJ, you play bowls? On a bowling green?
Please tell me you are pulling our leg.Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Days out.... I would love to help, but am not very well travelled so other than where to go in Dorset I'm not much help....
I don't think I've ever been to (or, to be honest, through) your area other than to go to Blackpool and Alton Towers
Think my next big planned day out will be legoland (fingers crossed)
Whats the transport links like in your area- I mean, whats your North, South, East & West limits for a day trip?
I'm within easy access to the M5, M6, M40, M42, A5. To be honest can get pretty much anywhere in the UK.
Legoland....:think:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

One of my aunts and her very best friend play bowls, they both have moustaches and a decidely military bearing. All that is missing is the alsatians.

We still own 180m2 of Bath, if anyone wants to camp there within a mile of the city centre. There's water, but no loo, and the parking is naff. It's within the Conservation area, though.:)
Perhaps we should follow LJ's Scottish Laird example and sell off the plot in m2 pieces. I'd consider £100 a square metre a pretty good price. With the registered title, a buyer could call themselves a Knight of the Order of Aquae Sulis, or something. :cool:0 -

Nope.
Been playing in leagues since the age of 12.
It is one of the most enjoyable yet simple pleasures in life. So relaxing, and so therapeutic.
You see it on the telly, & think it looks simple, rolling a ball as close to another. It is actually a lot more difficult than it looks. I've taken friends with me, who've been suprised at how difficult it is.
It is a complete break for me from work, or other responsibilities.
It takes my mind away from many stresses.
It is relaxing yet gives focus.
Not much can beat a lovely sunny day, bowls match, cold drink. In the sunshine - sometimes I play bare foot. The feeling of the soft grass on the feet cools you down. You have the contrast of the competition of the match, with the relaxation of the individual.
For years, all my friends called it "old man bowls". To which I'd retort "Am I an old man? No! Well its not old man bowls then!" For quite some time I was the youngest/among the youngest. That has changed now...
My family have always played it. I use my grand-dads bowls whichg he bought from new, over 75 years ago.
Twice a week minimum. Love it...:D
I remember 1 year in particular - quite recent. Work & associated stresses were really getting to me - becoming unbearable. The person in charge of the rota put me in a load of off-site locations (I assume thinking it'd alienate me & I'd hate it). It had the opposite effect - removed me from the stress, meant that I could focus on the people I work with, & also could be packed up at 4pm with everything chucked into the car by 4.01pm & could get to the bowling green before rush hour kicked in.
What was then really lovely was relaxing on the green - playing bowls, or sometimes just lying down in the sun on the soft grass, whilst all around me madness reigned, people in their cars being frustrated in the traffic and the rushing around. & there was me, in my own idyllic setting, alone, in calm-ness!It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
