Oooh which one? I have just had 2 days back home (and OH and son have been living like little piggies...what a mess) and was desp to get back.

I have to go back over the weekend to work too....I love London in the winter, in the autumn and late at night (esp a summer night in WestEnd) but when it's like this.....grim grim grim.

    Your bit, fc!

I thought you were back in E London these days?

It was gorgeous - perfect weather, warm without being too hot, very slight breeze - obviously the beach was rammed but never matter. 2 hour train ride, enormous bag of snacks and treated ourselves to 2 v reasonable priced meals out - I do like Brighton prices. I'd assumed they'd be the same as London, but both places had kiddy meals (with real food in!!!) for £3 ish - hard to get in London if not impossible.

I have been to Brighton before (taking groups of students down there and I think just as a kid) but this was the first time I've just meandered around, enjoying the town - we wondered around vaguely after coming off the beach. I thought of you with your sea views as we gazed at the calm blue sea today...lucky you!

Brighton is lovely; not perfect (lots of rubbish on the beach, too many tourists etc) but very lovely all the same...

It was nice up in sunny Scotland too.

It's getting warmer thought and it says it's 20 degrees now

Well I spent all of this afternoon on the beach too...luckily, the beach is only a 10 minute drive away and mum and dad live just off the sea front so dad came up with a flask of tea towards the end of our time there (mum let him go out on his own!).

Major stress out by youngest though...he can't cope with sand on his feet, so fun and games trying to calm him down enough to enjoy himself. He got there in the end by only standing on the stones to get in the sea but then it was major stress out again when we were packing up to get back to my parents as then it meant sand on feet and having to put shoes on and he just wouldn't let anyone near him to try to get the sand off!

Good fun though....and a very cheap day.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I am east just above the marina....not for long though...only 2 weeks to go. The sea was turquoise and streaky silver today.

I am living between the 2 houses but the studio is all moved..I won't be working in it properly until mid July though.

I have to go back up tomo pm and for Sunday to clean up our house as son and OH have been living like...well can't think of a polite PC word....DD and I were really fed up when we went back this week.
I cleaned it down last time I was there 3 weeks ago.

I have a cousin from Canada staying there from Tuesday for a few days and it's like a student house at the mo.
Just spent the evening listing my antique furniture on Ebay so really feels like not long to go.

We have lived here 5 years and we had the shop for 11....you may have wandered past it today ......but I know deep down we will never live here again. However, it has been a great place to live and there is a lot of stuff I will really miss.
I will pop down once a month to see my good friend who has a 1 yr old and do a bit of non-chain non- clone shopping I guess.

Huh, I mended the lawnmower and made a new roof for the ferret cage out of stuff that we inherited here, so a productive day, but very close to home!

Without being silly, the Flymo was interesting, being an ancient model with no hope of an internet manual or clues to how it could be serviced. Got there eventually, discovering why it wasn't hovering, but on the way, I marvelled at the simple yet effective design and the robustness of it. It was only abuse that had caused it to fail.:o I wonder if the current models are as tough?

Of course I made the understandable, but wrong assumption that Flymos are British. A quick look at the Wiki entry shows they are Swedish-owned. Hmmmm....but they are based on a British idea, the hovercraft.

I wonder that about lots of things Dave. I've got a 20 year old Panasonic vacuum cleaner. It still works like a dream, never breaks down. Ok so its a bagged version and there are now more powerful models on the market but its still strong enough to suck up the carpet that isn't fixed down, so what more could I want?

Made me think when I read Dave's post: what ancient appliances have we all got that we don't plan to trade up from until they finally expire?
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Brighton doesn't have a beach, it's all pebbles

True - prefer it actually - far less messy to clear up kids and get them dressed if you don't have sand sticking to every surface. :)

I did wonder if your shop was still there, fc - wasn't sure if you'd closed it or not. Passed some lovely shops, incl fudge shop to die for! Yummmm.

All of them, surely? After all, this is mse. Surely we're not the types to rush out and buy the latest model when the old one works perfectly well? ;)
