Off to the seaside tomorrow :j - can't wait!
Oooh which one? I have just had 2 days back home (and OH and son have been living like little piggies...what a mess) and was desp to get back.

I have to go back over the weekend to work too....I love London in the winter, in the autumn and late at night (esp a summer night in WestEnd) but when it's like this.....grim grim grim.

Lucky you! I'm off to Croydon, and unsurprisingly I wish I could wait:D

I've only ever been there once. I did my first degree with the OU and didn't realise you have to book your ceremonies early. So rather than the beautiful cathedral ceremony I was expecting, I ended up in a concrete monstrosity in Croydon. I hope you're reading this Sue...

LOL, some paperwork I'm dropping off that has to be delivered by hand. I'm doing it for someone to whom I owe a favour. I had hoped I'd then be able to meet DH and travel home together, but turns out he's been shipped out somewhere else and probably won't be back till Saturday morning. C'est la vie. I thought I might go to Wing Yip instead. Or TK Maxx. I'm feeling Wing Yip more. we don't have, and still won't have when we move, a nearby chinese supermarket. I like the pancakes that come with crispy duck, I feel happier if I have some in the freezer....though shouldn't be getting anything to freeze atm.....maybe I shall just come straight home:D

I went to college there and rented a room in West Croydon.....wasn't too bad but rented in Penge for the 2nd and back in SE London for the 3rd.
My course was amazing...a brand new one at the time...they axed it in the late 80's though and turned it into a degree....nowhere near as good as I have been back and done ''special'' one off projects and guest lectures.
My old lecturer now teaches at the top college in my field but still maintains that my old course taught us all we needed to know to survive in this sector.
Very concrety Croydon...and dreadful 70's road layouts.

During WW2 the ministry of misinformation got very worried about the damage being done by V1 buzz bombs in central London.
So they fed the Germans with the "news" that these flying bombs were overshooting. The Germans reduced the amount of fuel/time of the flight and that is why there is lots of concrete in Croydon.

During WW" Bomber Command was daft enough to flatten Lubeck, a strategically insignificant city with a rich architectural heritage. As a result, Hitler got out his Baedecker Guide and chose to bomb Bath in retaliation.

The bombs hit our first house, which is why it looked Victorian, but was in fact only 25 years old. They missed our second house, but they took the roof off. That's why we had concrete tiles, when most others had clay, which they needed to replace.:D

Thanks lj, I read it but I definitely didn't understand it! I think I would have needed those Friday morning lectures too.

I'm still not convinced I understand/understood it, then or now!:D
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

    I haven't read it. Thankfully.

I thought I would draw your attention to a new industry that has gone mainstream.

Anyone worried that the young male members of the household may have an unhealthy interest in screen based activities, can listen to the BBC radio programme linked above.
Some former "nerds" are now millionaires - Bill Gates is not the only drop out who did the "Carpe diem" route to success.
