I don't have belongings really ... so it's hard for me to say what I've still got that I've had for years. I've had to replace PCs over the years because I always bought the cheapest ones and when they broke it was time to get more up to date. My current PC was new in 2006 and I bought my laptop (cheapest) in 2008 because I was away from home for a few trips to my parents (who don't have a PC or internet); also, as I earn my living online I always need a backup of some sort. I have a portable TV I bought from Lidl in 2004 for £50. I have no stereo, no iPod, no gadgets. My mobile phone I bought second hand in 2005, it's "a brick" I've been told.
That's it for belongings.0 -
Nice peeps.
Can I request suggestions for nice days out?
Thinking of stuff to do all across summer. Interested in any suggestions. Primarily stuff that takes a day (including travelling - though all day isn't a problem). Anyhting that is nice to do for a day, nice to visit. Can be relaxing, or have stuff to do.
Seriously, all suggestions welcome! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

A day out from you could include getting to know better the nice bits of the Bristol you dislikes, and Bath. and visiting me.
with the gardening bug have you seen if there are any gardens in the Open Garden scheme that interest you?
edit for another idea. Get your local train maps. Visit all the worthy cities within the days travel that you haven't been to or bee to for a long time. There are always places sort of doable from home that you never get round to. For me its Exeter, a lovely city, within long reach for me, yet....I always seem to head east.0 -

If you came down my way, you could visit RHS Rosemoor, but it's a bit of a stretch from the Midlands, as my DD1 knows too well!
So, how about a visit to Barnsley House, former home of renowned gardener, Rosemary Verey. It's been tarted up a bit, mind since her day, but you can do the gardens for £7.50. After that, the sky's the limit.....

Bath is one of the places I had at the back of my mind...Great minds eh lir?
Local cities...Hmmm Birmingham is definitely out...Coventry, Derby & nottingham are close (but less sure about being interesting...) York is somewhere else I'd considered. If you came down my way, you could visit RHS Rosemoor, but it's a bit of a stretch from the Midlands, as my DD1 knows too well!

Errr, not very MSE!
For holiday breaks & days out, if it is MSE it is a bonus! Quality non-work time is worth having the money spent on it if it is enjoyable & fun!:) Just trying to get ideas together for 5 or so memorable/pleasant days out.PasturesNew wrote: »By car or by train?
More likely by car than train PN, though if train is better/easier that is no problem & a nice change! Went on the Severn Valley Railway a couple of times in the last 2 years http://www.svr.co.uk/ & that was lovely! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Done the sea life centre!:)
Currently navigating around the NT website.
Seaside is an obvious(ish) one. The thing is, where to go... Weston is easy to get to, but fancy somewhere a little different. Blackpool too stereotypical/obvious? Anyone been to Paignton, Morecombe, Ilfracombe, Skegness or similar recently? (They're places I went as a child). It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
How about the Heart of Wales line from Shrewsbury to Swansea? Get on at the crack of dawn & you could be eating your brekkie in Swansea:

Lots to do along the route, including the Bog Snorkeling Triathlon in July at Llanwyrtd Wells:
