Nice people thread 2 - now even nicer

so what's happened to the "nice" people.
Quite selective as to who and when to be nice.
All the more reason to stuff the fluffy ducks and all this pretence
N0.2381 - You're letting the side down - what about the rain today, good for the garden, much needed water.
I'm selective. I selected working rather than sitting here on the computer.
First, because it was raining hard, DW & I mended the oven, 'cos we're fed-up with microwave meals. It's a built-in jobbie, so it was a right slog pulling it free, but once we'd got inside it was obvious where the short was. Silly manufacturers had made two lugs really flimsy, so part of the internal structure had fallen on the live connection. If it had been German......:(
From there, on to rebuilding the ferret summer quarters...but it was too windy, and when it started raining again, I retreated into the polytunnel. There, I potted things up and listened to Radio 4 for the rest of the day. Not terribly inspiring, but we now have lots of sweet and hot pepper plants to sell.:D
Finally, it was back into the conservatory to remove a fig which is growing rampantly, but after a couple of minutes heaving, the fig won.:o I decided to light the wood-burner instead. By that time DW had done a couple of weeks' worth of ironing.....
There, pretty humdrum stuff, just in case anyone else has had an equally duff day and feels left out.
Tomorrow it may be sunny and the guys will probably finish fencing the chicken run: sheep fence that is - we have to do the chicken wire. No fluffy ducks will be allowed, as they are messy beggars.
Meanwhile, the wren is still sitting on eggs in the converted swallow's nest down in my workshop and I've discovered why I really don't mind that the owl's moved on from the barn....it's called owl pellets!
Oh, and we heard a cuckoo two days ago. It was only about four "cuckoos," but it was the first time in.....maybe decades.0 -

I want a fig tree. I adore figs, I could eat them every day. I particularly love them atop a hunk of bread ad cheese, with a drizzle of honey on top.0 -

I am trying to do mine a favour by moving it, but I may be too late. It has burrowed into the floor of the conservatory, I think. It has 3 figs maturing on it......and about 5 thousand spider mites!
Bob Brown, famous Midlands plantsman, describes figs in his catalogue as: 'A must for those who enjoy sweet, latex flavours.':rotfl:0 -

Oh dear...on all points!
we ave a very unhappy fig in a pot here, we can take it, but I think its depressive. I've been thinking about things other than th ubiquitous brown turkey (named after its taste? and Bob Browns description simialrly apt often, though there is the occasional just picked delight). There are varieties that SHOULD grow well here in N. italy. That said I brought back three caci trees and only one is still with us. I'm going to have a long east facing wall....any good for growing fruits against do you think? Peaches, apricots and figs? I have some south facing wall too, but not enough for everything! I also wouldn't mind a kiwi, but its not so pretty so might try that in less conspicuous spot.0 -
The Nice, very nice, fc123 is on the verge of a massive stress out (mega one) and not nice stress induced head implosion....but I have taken today out to sort out derelict cottage post moving my studio contents back to E1 yesterday.
Lot's more viewings today (as agreed all in a block once a week) and another bright young thing in a suit who had zero idea on what to expect showed viewers about....and they all said the same old same old....so, as from today, I am now banning viewings as the LA haven't edited the descrip and it is extremely misleading.
House has even better feng shuii today as hardly anything in it and just a huge expanse of negelcted space with the rain battering the huge, leaky rusty windows.
I am also up to something official about it that I won't write about until I have moved home.
Who are you Bouche? Do you keep chickens or grow things? I don;t but I love this thread...0 -
aw bless fc, get some relaxation and it'll all be fine.
lir: sounds so exciting, we haven't got any south facing anything here
I've been doing housework because it's been raining ALL DAY. but the eurovision is on now0 -

I am plugged into a Roisin Murphey CD and feel I really should pollute my ears with Eurovision......maybe...is there a current thread on it to slag off (or praise) the contestants? May make it more interesting. I have clicked on iplayer to see if isn't too buffery live.
South facing....OMG i am going to miss it..SF with full sea panorama...to die for.0 -
