    Thanks LJ.

She doesn't force me but she asked me if there was anything she could do for me that would make me feel better about things, so I told her that her assistance in the things like courses etc would make me feel I was being proactive about my life and not such a waste of time. Unlike my first LP advisor (who was also very nice, but maybe a bit too nice), she took that on board and gave me the assistance instead of telling me to just concentrate on being a carer and nothing else..but without any pressure from her side.

She does tell me I don't have to do anything because I am a carer and things are already pretty stressful but also understands my need to be proactive about things.

I think my standpoint on the interviews and how I approach them comes from my upbringing, she wants to help, I want to have that help and so I am thankful for it...mind you, it was a bit of a pain when they kept organising it for the school holidays and I would have to turn up with the boys in tow, tics, funny noises and all! Thankfully, they now do it in term time, so we can at least talk without me spending more time destressing youngest than talking to her.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Spend the £££ on tiles instead...and a cess pit. Much more useful.:o
    .

Do you mean "septic tank" - cess pits need attention from a big tanker lorry = smell + ££££ .

So, hey-ho it was back to the flat and two more hours of Leonard Cohen...:(

Funny how something triggers off similar happy memories - I was knocking about with someone called Suzanne back then.
These memories kind of rekindle the spirit of the time.

Tanks need draining too. FC could be referring to the cess and slurry we'll need to drain, or the tank/sewage treatment we'll need to install. TBH, it doesn't matter which, its all much that will cost brass.

I felt a bit intimidated by Soho, but maybe that's because it was famous among 13 year old Devon schoolboys in the 60s. As pubescent yoofs, we were all terrified of catching a social disease, although by the time I moved to London, there seemed no chance of that! We used to go up there for the Chinese, or for faggots, peas and mash at a genuine old greasy spoon cafe. :rotfl:

I remember when 'Hair' first opened and, again, I felt uneasy. The idea of dancing around with a load of naked people put me off. I was OK with nakedness, and we all had lots of hair, but somehow the idea of cavorting about worried me. This was because every rock concert was ruined by 'idiot dancers' who threw themselves around in the aisles and upset us cool people, who came to hear the deeply 'significant' music. I was into being seriously hippie, so the concept of simple, fun-filled alternativeness upset my new world view.

So, hey-ho it was back to the flat and two more hours of Leonard Cohen...:(

Loved this post! So glad to hear you are an ex-hippie - I'm definitely a hippy chick. :D

Feel sad I missed the 60s in some ways; I rather enjoyed the early 80s and early 90s, though the late 80s were pretty dire, musically and politically.

That said, the 70s were definitely a cool time to be a kid. Best kids' TV programmes ever. :)

My septic tank saves me the sewage half of the normal water bill.
I have not had to do anything to in in the last 30 years or more.
Once a year I open its heavy concrete manhole and poke about with a really long bean stick (*) to make sure it is still "fermenting" nicely (doing my bit for global warming  CH4  ).

It has more than paid back the investment I made building it.

When and if it ever fills up, I will pump the sludge into trenches in the vegetable garden.

(*) In the mean time I screen it with an enclosure of runner beans, that need very little watering.

I'm always really impressed with people whose tanks never need draining. Where ever I've lived on a tank we've had it drained routinely. In france we had stuff to add to the tank. Ours had only been ''full'' once, but once that makes be cautious about wanting it full ever again!
I do use quite a bit of bleach in the house, which is a bit of a no-no but....I feel the need to.:o

edit: I had a feeling we had ours emptied almost annually, but I paid the last bil and I think it was 2008. So we don't.

It was crazy. Man, we flew in from 'nam, picked up a couple of keys, and went touring the festivals, ending up in the Big One of course. Watching Janis play Purple Haze, and singing along with the Fish - yeah baby they were the days. I can just remember the Who playing Black Magic Woman and then Ravi Shankar came on and we all just tripped out. Of course I didn't heed my sergeant's warnings and a couple of months later my brain had completely fried. Spent a few months at an institution in Salem, Oregon and managed to escape one night with an Indian friend. Penniless, looking like a tramp, and completely out of my head I managed to get a job as a realtor and start to ride the money train.

No time to continue, how I started up Greyhound buses will just have to wait...
