So back in the Ebay mood, I search what the old ps1 would fetch, with 20 games. The answer is about a fiver :( not really worth the effort of listing, packing, posting etc. Especially as kids will want to play one of the games on the PS3 as soon as its gone.

We have a buzz light year in the loft, that is meant to be worth fortunes in 20 years time, so I've been told. I reckon we should cash in now, but the "experts" (kids) reckon we have to wait.

    Did the potties sell?

I used to do the paper ones too - I've been doing it since 2001. Not continuously, and it used to be just twice a year (though I marked for different boards). Now they've upped the number of marking sessions, meaning I could do it almost as often as I want . Which is partly why I got a job - I think my brain would turn to goo out of extreme boredom. :p

The worst thing with the paper marking, other than the physical space it took up, was trying to stop my toddlers drawing on the papers ('helping'), as they all had to be returned to the exam boards, and potentialy the candidates if there was a query, I think. :rotfl:

The best/worst thing about doing it online (other than the aching eyes and suddenly realised need for a proper computer chair :o) is the amont of distractions available at the touch of a key - like you lot. :o:)

I'm surprise this hasn't been outsourced to Kolkata yet.

You couldn't ever outsource what I do - far too specific and expert. Whether that's a good or bad thing is a matter of opinion. :)

We have lift off on the potty front , silvercar - not going to make me rich, and less they should have got, in ebay terms - our fault for not bothering to put the pictures up till the last day. Ah well, cleared a bit of space at least.

I'm glad the UK education system is in such good hands. :A

I wonder if your quote was ever said by doctors? :D

What I do is language specific, so there's a v good reason it can't be outsourced (except possibly to English-speaking countries - but they are hardly going to do the same work at cheaper cost). Anyone without perfect command of English would have their head fried in an instant. They simply wouldn't be able to do the job.

    No, my job is safe.

Whether I want to do the marking long-term is a different matter...

We're scouring eBay and second hand places for a beat up, old-looking sidetable for our hall because everything else in there is modern-looking. Quite hard to find something suitable that isn't a rip-off though.

This is possibly the most girly post I've ever written on here.

Furniture clearance stores. We got the most amazing sideboard in there. solid oak, and it was all polished and cleaned with oils when it was delivered to us.

Most of the house is furnished off second hand shops/freecycle and the ilk

However, our shabby chic has succumbed to some ikea armchairs as there is a shortage of armchairs for sale. :(

I went to do a second viewing today. I thought of wageslave's image of me when I chose to where pearl ear studs for appearance of decorum, and neutral makeup. DH thought the effect was probably spoiled by the flowery over knee socks appearing over the top of my boots.

    Not spoiled at all, enhanced.

I think of you every time I talk to anyone even vaguely posh. Especially when they are wearing good jewellry.

It makes me sad if we ever meet I'll be such a huge disappointment to you. :(

I've got to try and sweet talk a planning officer this week I think. Its my worst thing. Its been the stumbling block for every property we've considered. I'm sure this sort of thing was easier when I was 23.

    Good luck, lir. :)

On a totally different note, I've been idling by starting to daydream/plan our 10th anniversary weekend jaunt abroad I mentioned many pages back (or was it last thread?).

There are so many possibles... I want somewhere up to 3 hrs flight or a Eurostar from London, romantic, good food. I have this image in my mind of European outdoor street scene in the evening, cafes, low hum of conversation, balmy, dusk, sooo romantic. But I dont know where?!

Please inspre me - generals or specifics eg countries or hotels, whatever, really. :)

Ooh, this is such fun. :j
