We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Its like a screen that you can download books to. You can download lots of books that are out of copyright through, for example, Project Gutenberg - see:
    http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

Alternatively, libraries in the UK are modernising and many now have digital collections. The great thing about this is that if a library authority has a larger collection than Suffolk, there's no reason you shouldn't sign up for that area, as you don't physically have to go there to borrow them (though you may need to sign up when passing through).

Under copyright, you agree to download the book for a period of time and then delete it. That's all you have to do. The benefit though for libraries is that where you have a popular author (James Patterson is probably the most popular from your list) you may have 200 or so people waiting to borrow a copy of the physical book. If you have an ebook reader, because the item is digital, there's no limit on download numbers so you can get hold of new titles quicker.

The downside though is that ebook readers are in their infancy, so you may not want to get one straight away. If you want to see how you get on with the service, why not download some books free to your computer and take it from there.

Ebook readers are carp. They aren't all backlit and they will only read certain formats.

Once you get over the whole need for paper thing all you need is a laptop and a few free programmes like microsoft lit and adobe.

Do you know how to download from servers like MIHD Sue?

Huge thanks for that...I best get my membership updated so that I have a pin.

Have found a book already that I don't have by Faye Kellerman on there so will try to sort that tomorrow if I can squeeze in a visit to the town centre.

I don't actually do a lot of downloading from any source to be honest ....so nope!

Must admit, I am a bit hairy scary about downloading at the best of times.

Wrong thread, 1984. Everyone on this thread is Nice; rules say, if you post here, Niceness is required. Think fc is bit miffed at the accusation.

    Cheers. :)
