Just recieved a mail from Nationwide informing that they will not be allowing cash withdrawels from atm machines abroad this is extremely bad news as that was more or less the reason for having a Nationwide flex account any ideas on an alternative method?

Goodbye nationwide (if this is true)... That is the only reason I have an account with them.

I never liked nationwide much anyway... Have a look at this link for alternatives:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money

    (extract below)
'The Santander Zero (formerly Abbey) card has no foreign exchange loading anywhere, so you get the best possible exchange rate, and uniquely it doesn't charge a fee for withdrawing cash.
The only negative is its high 27.9% cash withdrawal interest rate, which you pay even if you clear the card in full. Yet as that’s roughly £2 for a month per £100, it's still cheaper than paying interest PLUS the cash withdrawal fees on other cards.'

Do you have the cash card version of the FlexAccount?

What is the exact wording of the letter?

Nothing on the Nationwide Media Centre about this:

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/mediacentre/

Don't get too excited until the source is posted. I cant see why they would prevent this from happening to be honest.

Edit: Why is this not in the current account forum?

I recieved this today also. Sending out new cards between June 2010 and September 2010 and you will not be able to use the new card abroad for cash withdrawals

Is this just restricted to a cash card or a debit card linked to a flexaccount iyswim?
