insurance companies use nominated suppliers to reduce prices and consequently premiums. They make an overall policy which works in "most" cases, we tend to see on this forum the case where it doesnt work as planned and there is no real contingecy to cover lifes unplanned events. There is no real concern about quality from insurers, its just numbers, and provided the complaints do not reach a certain level they do not care. They just tick the boxes. If you are lazy enough to just allow yourself to be taken along by the system then do not bleat about it afterwards. If you select your own supplier and pay them with your own money and reclaim it from your insurer you will be less likely to fall victim to the faceless companies who trade to the lowest common denominator. Ask yourself, how is it that a large company gets these contracts? is it because they do the best quality job? But it takes time and trouble to do this and the big companies prey on the publics laziness. It will be intersting to see if there is a test case regrading this nominated supplier issue as it is outlawed in the USA and some of the big players who also operate over here have been fined big bucks for what is called "steering" which is illegal under anti trust legislation. If we are trying to stimulate an economy it would make sense to encourage free enterprise not limit it in favour of multi national companies. Soapbox dismount.0
