Not a consumer vent but I'm so mad I want to screeeeeeeam!!! so trying to let off steam here. I've just come downstairs this morning to find my backgate open and that awful sinking feeling.....3 of the kids bike stolen.
I just feel sick.....my daughters bike is brand new, a lovely groovy chick one and I have been keeping it in the house overnight, the boys bike were not brand new but they loved them. Now they will not have anything to do in the holidays. I will have to bring the twins new ones in now as no doubt they will be back for them tonight.
Why does anyone think they have the right to take anyones property.....some people should be sterelised as they don't give a shoot about there kids and probablly encourage them to go out thiefing.
My insurance does not cover this so it's my kids who suffer, they are out on a day trip with Grandma and unaware of what has happened so their lovely day out will be ruined when they find out.
I HATE SCUMBAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww, i'm sorry to hear this. Have you reported it to the police?Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0

I haven't as it seems a waste of time but I may ring lost property in the hope they have been abandoned and handed in....I very much doubt it.
I'm having a quick look on ebay....it's not too bad for the boys bike as they will have any, but my daughters bike I had to save hard for as that was the one she wanted and she had smaller xmas presents knowing she was getting this for her birthday, there is no way I can afford to replace that one.
Or if anyone knows of any cheap cycle shops....?0 -
Sorry to hear this, I would feel sick if I was you. I have had two bikes stolen so I no the feeling well.
Are you sure you aint covered by house contents insurance as I a made a claim many years ago for a moutain bike, it wasnt even left at my house but outside a shop and a few momments lapsed and it got nicked
One more thing, nows the time to see if you can improve on security to try and avoid it again if possible0 -
It's not always kids that steal kids bikes.I think outside the box - I can also think round corners.0

You should check out your local bootsales. There are always loads of bikes around here. (You might even see someone selling yours  then you can attack them
)

I agree that the thieves are scum but why did you not lock them away? We do tend to get a little complacent and we must remember to secure our belongings because thieves are everywhere.
Please report the theft to the Police. Your bikes will not be the only ones stolen and if the Police catch the ba$tard$, maybe your property will be returned.
Finally, its worth remembering that if you cannot afford to replace something, then it's important to insure it. If insurance is unaffordable, yoiu must lock things away.
Any travellers around your area?
Good luck. Don't get mad, get even.

Yeah, I think my best bet will be the boot sales.0

Unfortunately the police no longer consider it part of their remit to investigate crimes like this. You have my sympathy.
Welcome to Blair's Britain. :mad:0 -
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, totally agree with your views on steilisation (with the proviso that no form of anethesia be employed whilst the procedure is undertaken).
Can I urge you though to report the theft to the police ? I am aware that it is unlikely that this action could result in the return of the stolen property and that there are better things to do in the weather that we are currently experiencing but you will have recorded the theft and become a statistic.
If everyone reported the crimes that they had been the victim of then it might, just might, prevent some silly !!!!!! somewhere from pubicly announcing that crime levels are declining.
Good luck in your damage limitation exercise.0 -
Oh dear! I am sorry to hear about this.
You could try your local freecycle group to see if anyone has any childrens bikes they can give you?
Our local freecycle is fantastic - lovely people and lots of useful stuff!
Is worth a try - usually you have to offer something first before you can post a wanted but you can always take up an offer if there happens to be one you are interested in. If nothing else, you may find something you need and put the money you have saved towards a new bike!
I would report to police anyway - went to a cycling for women meeting in our area a while back with policeman there on how to keep your bike safe and they recommended reporting as they always have bikes that have been recovered that they can't match up with owners!
Hope you find something soon
cheers0
