Hi, can anyone recommend a good camp site in Norfolk please? I'm new to camping so would like somewhere that's good for first timers!

Hi, I am local and whilst I have not stayed at any (prefer static caravans!) this link may help:
http://www.visitnorfolk.co.uk/norfolk/list-camping.aspx
If you want North Norfolk Seales at Hunstanton is fantastic (if you want amenities/entertainment as well). Clippesby has got a very good reputation and so has Woodhill Park.
My favourite place of all thought is Kelling Heath (in woodland about a mile and half from Weybourne on the North Norfolk Coast). Like a mini centerparcs without the commercial aspect.
Just before you head in this direction have a quick look at www.tickred.com which offers lots of bogof's for attractions/restaurants even Mc D's!0 -
have a look on www.ukcampsite.co.uk
free to join and use, reviews are honest reviews from real campers ( rather than a magazine write up) they have a map search too. You can pick a point and see all sites within a certain radius.
However in Norfolk I can recommend Searles holiday park, but it will depend on the make up of your family and what eactly you want from a site.... all singing and dancing or back to basics. Searles is a family entertainment park BTW.
You can read my reviews on UKCS0 -
I have camped at Deepdale which is a lovely part of the County, but was very windy!!
I also love Deer's Glade, near Cromer http://www.deersglade.co.uk/. Stayed about 3 years ago - at that time there was no shop but toilet/washing facilities were excellent and you really felt like you were in the middle of the countryside. Nice walks for the dog too!
Hope that helps a little!

Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0

Hi everyone, thanks so much - it's just me and my partner going, and as it's our first time camping together I just want to make sure it's enjoyable - we do want to get back to basics to a certain extent as we live in London, so the idea is to experience a bit of countryside, but at the same time I do want to make sure we're not too isolated and away from things as we still want things to be 'easy' - I think perhaps I am too 'townie' and spoilt living in London with everything you need within a five mniute walk!
So I will look at your suggestions and make a choice - we'll probably take the car out to see different places of Norfolk, so I'm really looking forward to it, thanks again for your help everyone.0 -
Oh, and I think having a pub by the campsite is a must - I have visions of evenings in a lovely pub and then a short walk home!0

Deers Glade used to provide transport to the local, give them a ring and see if they still do it. You will travel round most days so do not worry about towns!Clare_king wrote: »Oh, and I think having a pub by the campsite is a must - I have visions of evenings in a lovely pub and then a short walk home!

Thanks, I've had a look at Searles and it does look good - even though we don't have kids it looks like there is a lot to do, so it could be a good way for us to start with camping! And also I've just looked at Kelling Heath - I think this could really tick the box for us, my partner loves wildlife, so yes, I'm thinking this could be the one.
Thanks so much everyone, I've only been using this forum a short time, and I've been so impressed with the replies I've had.

Kellingheath is wonderful. The site itself is very well kept. There is a well stocked shop, nice pizza restaurant, bar & swimming pool. The steam railway stops there which takes you to Sheringham I think. There are great beaches and places to see less than 20 minutes drive away.
We haven't camped but stayed in one of their lodges - although there are other lodges nearby you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere as you are surrounded by pine forest.:beer:0
